Haven't priced any kits lately but you can generally build whatever style you like from a kit for around that price range. Its not hard. All you really need is a AR barrel wrench, a torque wrench, GI technical manual, and the usual punches, hammer etc. ... an action block and a vice helps too.

That will get you an AR but most kit sellers today don't have truely mil spec parts. The cheaper the price the less mil spec you get.

Look here for different brands and their mil spec or lack of mil spec parts.

Mitch's Gun Shop in Hamilton, MS has lowers on gunsamerica.com for $75. I am going to buy one tomorrow and start from there. Don't know about the quality, but figure once I am finished, I can upgrade the lower later.

Also check out CDNN sports. They sent me an e-mail a couple of weeks ago with the best prices on AR's I have seen in a while.

I picked up a bushmaster m-4 with a collapsable stock new for $799 plus tax. Sweet shooting rifle.

CMMG bargain bin, Stag, RRA, and DPMS are where you want to look.

I own two RRAs and I just got my wife a stag kit that I built on an rra stripped lower. We haven't gone shooting since she got the stag but it seems well put together.

I put the wifes together for $788. ($150 for the lower and $638 for the kit). You can probably do better on the lower by about $20-30 if you shop around and get a good price on the transfer fee.

If you don't want to go over $800, I would go with Stag SA3

There is a place in meridian that sells Ar made by doublestar for 700 bucks. I dont know the name of the place but I know a few people including myself who did get one from the people. Meridian isnt that big so im sure you could find the place that has them easily.
