Hey, I think some of them are actually listening to their constituants. I checked my email tonight and actually had a response from one of my two Madison county Representatives.
Here's her response...

I do support this bill and will do all I can do to get it passed in the House.

Email response from Philip Gunn:

Thanks for your email. I support this legislation and will vote for it if given a chance. Unfortunately, the bill is stuck in the House Jud B committee which is chaired by Willie Bailey. It appears that Chairman Bailey has not intention to bring this bill to the House floor for a vote. Therefore, I may not even have a chance to vote on it.

made my calls -- how about you? Email to Chariman Bailey this morning ...
-------------------------------------------

Dear Committee Chairman Baily:

I see that SB 2153 is still sitting in your Committee and has not been voted on. Why, may I ask, have you decided to not bring this Bill up for a vote? I realize you represent one House District, but this Bill has impact on us all.

Please schedule a vote in your Committee on this Bill. The Senate passed this Bill with overwhelming support and it is a shame it may not even make it to the House floor for debate and vote because you have decided to infringe upon our rights as American citizens.

I beg of you to do the right thing and allow your Committee to vote on this bill. I do await your response.

Has anybody called this Chairman Bailey and asked him why he is against this Bill? Do we citizen have the right to ask elected officials why they are against something or do they just blow the public off and do what they want.

Mr. Bailey is not answering his phone now apparently. Just rings and rings. I told Mr. Gunn we would work very hard to see that Mr. Bailey does not get reelected if he holds this bill. I would hope that the House would do something to force the bill to the floor for a vote. However, that looks doubtful.

Sent Bailey another email asking why he won't let it out committee and shaming him for denying law abiding Mississippians our right to protect ourselves. Also included some gentle hints about the next election. Also sent email to Gunn asking about chances of forcing bill out of committee. Waiting on replies.

Representative Gunn replied to my query about forcing the bill out of committee. Looks like we just need to work real hard next election to clean House!

Mr. Gunn's reply:
"None. It requires a 2/3 vote to override a chairman; that equals 81 votes. We have tried this maneuver at least 6 times on other occasions and the most votes we can ever rally is around 45-50."

Looks like one man from Greenville can manipulate the entire State of Mississippi. It's probably gonna die in committee. It's a dang shame we have people like this in office.

It should be brought to the House floor and if it fails, then it fails. My frustration is that one man won't give it a chance. Who appointed him judge, jury and executioner?

The House committee chairs are hand-picked by Billy McCoy who was elected Speaker only after coercing and threatening fellow legislators of the Democratic persuasion to vote for him. No Republicans hold any positions of power in the House because of McCoy and his ilk. Time to clean House of the trash that has accumulated over the years and reward the good people who try but can't get anywhere in the political atmosphere that reigns there now! In Mississippi and Washington, D.C. the time has come to take our government back.

One man can stop the entire legislative process? I'm so amazed at this process or lack thereof, it makes me sick. If it failed on the house floor, I'm ok with that. At least it had a chance. Do you think maybe Mr. McCoy would only want a jury of one person if he committed a crime? I'm glad at least if I had to go to a jury, it's at least 12 persons.

Maybe the entire country runs like this, people with too much power and not enough sense? What is your legacy Mr. McCoy?
