Re: lever action carbine?
That's a pretty vague question.
It depends on what you have in mind to do with it.
Some use them in cowboy shooting, but they are a very reliable design---good for most any application and available in a wide variety of calibers, including .22 long rifle.
I have a 30-30 carbine that sits just fine in my gun vault.
Also a Browning .22 lever action.
And a Taurus .22 lever action.
If you want to deer hunt with it, make sure that you get one that can accept a scope easily. (Ejects empties out the side---not out the top of the action.)
Marlin is a major manufacturer. Here is a link:

Same as me. A Win 1894 Easstern Carbine in .30-30 made in 1919 and a Rossi Puma .44 Mag, that I only shoot BP ammo in.

My dad had one of the take down, saddle ring Marlin .22 that they made prior to the 39As. He would get teary eyed any time he talked about trading it off.

I have a Ruger 96/44 44 mag and it is fun to shoot and deadly on a deer. Farthest shot I have had was 120 yards with a 240gr Federal Hydra-Shock. he dropped like a rock.

How does that Browning .22 lever action shoot? It's a good looking rifle.

Re: lever action carbine?
Most 357 lever actions will shoot the 38 spl.
I have a marlin 336 in 35 rem and a 30/30. Both are tried and true deer calibers. You can buy them with 16.5 to 24" barrels if you are patient and look around. Marlins are great. I prefer them over winchesters (less moving parts and side eject vs top)
I also have a marlin model 444 in the heavy hitting 444 marlin caliber and also a model 1894 in 44 rem mag. Its a great brush gun for deer and good out to 125 to 150 yards. I'm a huge fan of lever guns and my preference falls on marlins. But I enjoy the winchesters and henrys as well. They are all good!

If you really want a lever gun check these out. I would love to send mine to them to get redone.

Mine does a great job. I wish I would have had the money to buy it when I was middle teens instead of my middle 40s.

I have never run anything but 158 swc 38 target rounds through mine. It is a great plinker with those. No noticeable recoil and not much retort. It hits where you are aiming. 38s are cheap to reload. It wouldn't be my first choice to deer hunt with, but if I caught an armadillo nosing around the yard...
