new barrel for my .22-250

Post by nonnieselman on Thu Feb 18, 2010 5:03 pm

Ive put a few bullets thru my .22-250 since i got it several years ago. Its a Factory Rem 700 with a Choate stock and a Millett TRS Scope.

Thinking about putting a real barrel on it, Bill in Utica suggested the Factory 700 heavy barrel.
Anybody have any input on this barrel?

If it was me I would go with the Shilen barrel also, however if I had it to do over again I would go with a 1 in 12 or 1 in 9 twist so I could toss the heavier bullets.

Order a kreiger and PM eddybo tell him you can get him a long range place to shoot and he will probably work out a deal.

Can't go wrong with a Schneider or a Krieger barrel for long range shooting they are worth the money.

320 will get you a kreiger. I have a 22x47 barrel chambered up and ready to be threaded on a remington action. In fact I have 2, one is a 14T and the other is a 7.5 twist. I also have a bunch of brass that is sized and ready to go (900 pieces). I would make you a cost deal on these parts. Labor to headspace and open your barrel channel would be free.

Will not do any good if he is not a reloader. Recon Wendell will part with his old 14T 220 swift barrel? I could thread that up, but I do not have a 22/250 reamer.
