Are there any BlackPowder shooters here? no topics at all
just wondering if there were any cap and ball shooters here. I have a couple not counting rifles we use to fire off every now and then. fun stuff but pain to clean.

I have owned several of the replica revolvers through the years -- they were a lot of fun to shoot. I have a brother-in-law that carriers one with him all the time around the farm.
Been looking at some recently via mail order -- the really good ones have gotten pretty expensive -- $300/400 range!!

I have a sorta modern POJ smokepole....a Thompson Thunderhawk...many a deer have met their demise with a 100 Gr of Pyrodex. It's a pain to clean...Got me a H&R Single shot 444 Marlin to replace it...heresy!

I see this is an old thread but the title caught my eye and seeing how I'm new, figured I'd jump in.
Have owned a few cap and ball revolvers in my day. Only have 2 these days...1860 Army (Pietta) and my favorite...1861 Navy Uberti). Both have sent many critters to their maker.

I am gonna have to get me another ... they were certainly a lot of fun to shoot ... looking for a .44cal revolver ... see there are some stainless steel out there for a little extra $$s .. are they easier to clean and do they actually hold-up better?

Never have owned a stainless one, but can't see them being any easier to clean.

I order all my blackpowder...have Swiss, Goex and Wano on hand here at the house.
The 1860 is a .44 and the 1861 is a .36 caliber.
Your snow pics are fine. The older I get the less I care for it.
Nice collection you have there Doug Bowser. I was always fond of those 51's...have a real good feel to them. Partial to a Hawkens too...my favorite though is my little .40 caliber flintlock longrifle. Have sent alot of critters to their maker with it.

Bottom rifle in this pic is my little longrifle. Has a 42 inch Ed Rayle barrel, Siler lock, Davis triggers...walnut stock. All the hardware is browned.
