Pet loads that you have worked up

Mine is for a .308 168grain vld with 45.5 grains of varget.Still working on my .223 and 7mag

That 308 load looks like someone has been consulting Eddybo.

Me, I like to experiment. I know, mistake in the reloading game, but anyhow, here's what I did. Found some old powder in my cabinet, various types not listed in my reloading manuals, for handgun use: Greendot, Bluedot, 4227, 700X, 800X, a few others, and I consulted burning rate charts to find where they fell in comparison to known loadings. So far, I have good loads worked up for 9mm, .40, and .45ACP using Greendot, and 700X. 800X may be a bit too slow.

I am NOT RECOMMENDING this as a routine practice, just for informational purposes only. BTW, the only gun I ever "blew-up" was an M1-A!! massair

Yea you are right Eddybo helps me a lot.I am new to reloading and when I need help I always call him.You can't ask for a better person then Eddybo if it wouldn't been for him I would still be buying my ammo

I do a good deal of reloading myself. But not near as much as I wish I could. $$$

No smoke whatsoever. Inside of cases blackened about similar to typical Federal factory loads. So far, I have only worked up 230 grain, but expect similar results with lighter bullets.

If you like, I will look up my records, let you know my typical loadings. If this is done, however, you must forget who I am, where you heard it, etc! (liability purposes).

Edit: As you prolly know, Greendot is an old shotgun powder, about average density. 700X is a light-density powder, so light they sold (sell?) it in 1/2 lb. quantities packed in a typical 1-lb. can. New stock is maybe no longer packaged in actual metal cans, not sure on that.

My Rem 700, 300saum likes 180gr Accu Bonds loaded with 60gr IMR 4350 with Rem 9 1/2 mag primers. Haven't started working up a load for my 300wm yet.

I started out years ago with a big, heavy, castiron press made by Lachmillar Engineering. Did not know when I bought it, they were already out of business. It's a single stage strong old devil, later I got a Lee-Pro 1000 progressive. For experimenting, just a few rounds, I use the old blue Lach.

I really would like to get into .50 BMG but lack the bread. That would require a BIG press!

.40 S&W caliber with 160 grain semi-wadcutter lead bullet I used 4.6 grains Greendot.

.45 ACP with 230 grain round-nose lead I used 5.2 grains Greendot.

Bear in mind different powder lots vary some, so if you try using Greendot, I would load less than shown above, to start, by maybe .5 grain, or even ,ore.

Edit: 700X powder: .40 S&W with 135 grain jacketed flat point 5.3 grains powder.
.45 ACP with 230 grain round nose lead 4.9 grains powder.

Afraid I cannot help you on those. I would have to look in my books, never shot or loaded either of them.

160 Grain Sierra SBT 60.0 grains IMR 4350 CCI magnum primers. Close to max load. Work your way up. Shoots 3/4" groups @ 2900 fps in my Rem 700 7 MM Magnum. I can't help with the 7MM08.

My 300 Win Mag shot 165 Sierra SBT better than 180 Accubonds. They were both very accurate with IMR 4350. Work up to 71 grains IMR 4350 with the 165 Sierra SBT. Very accurate and deadly in my 300 Win Mag.

so far my favorite 45 ACP load is:

Fed Brass
Fed Large Pistol primers
Green Dot : 4.5 gr
200 gr LSWC from Precison Delta seat bullet 1.260 Oal

That load is magic ......hey they got cool smilies here.
