from what i've found while researching, the color itself wears just like any other finish. however, the benefit is that the color is just that, color, the actual finish is chemically bonded to the metal, so even after the color is gone, its still there protecting the metal

well...just ordered the VZs, w/ a mag release cut, and the hardware for slim grips, also the rubber bushings they recommend for g10. along w/ a coupon code wound up being $75 for everything including shipping....not too bad for all that. the code only took off $7, but i'll take whatever i can get

and if you want the coupon code, just become a fan of them on facebook, and if you dont have facebook shoot me a PM on here

That was my selling point. Especially since this is my primary carry gun, I want it to be able to hold up to all the sweat that my big butt can dish out! I especially love that all the internals are coated, barrel included, because the barrel on kimbers is carbon steel, and rusts very easily. The self lubricating will also be very nice, but the rust prevention is what pushed me over the edge

This is why I think I've decided to have a two tone done on my Ultra Carry as well, I'm anxious to see yours when it gets back!

Ha that makes 2 of us!!! I'm anxious to get my grips in as well, because I need to get the slim hardware over to birdsong so they can be done along with my gun!

Getting a little anxious about seeing my grips, so I messages VZ yesterday and they told me they should ship today or tomorrow. SHOT had them a bit behind in their normal schedule, which I figured was the problem since they'd shut down for it.

I just wanted to know so I could get the hardware to birdsong to be coated with my pistol

I had a "truck gun" done done years ago. After I got it back, it wasn't staying in no truck. Heck, it looked so good I was afraid I would scratch it. It has held up well, although I have nothing to compare it to other than factory finishes. The lubricating part is what has sold me on it.

i'm hoping! the 320s seem to have more than enough grip for a carry weapon, but they're supposedly the smoothest of the VZs...the lines all go horizontally it seems, so the gun isnt going to slide down or up in my hand, and its still not goin to tear up my love handles either! Plus VZ was a pleasure to deal with! they answered all of my questions and emails promptly, and I think $55 was pretty fair for a good set of grips from such a highly regarded company...i'd been thinking esmaralda's but the $90-100 price tag was throwing me off something that was going to be hidden anyway...which i still spent $75 on these after shipping, the thumb recess, the rubber washers that they recommend for G10, and the slimline hardware. but for all of that $75 isnt bad IMO...i've seen people pay a lot more for a lot less.

not like this is a full custom gun or anything, but it will certainly be a unique CDP with the fact that its a Compact and not your typical Pro or Ultra, the tactical bump that I had kimber install last spring, the grips and the finish i'm anxiously awaiting! shouldn't be more than a few weeks away though, its flying by

WOW!!! Birdsong's current turnaround time is 3 weeks for anyone wondering! Just spoke to Susan and Wallie(I think) this morning, and my gun is good to go! Just gotta get my younger brother to drop off my thin grip hardware today so he can coat them tomorrow, and Wallie said it'll be ready to go by weds!

He offered to have one of his guys who is coming through Hattiesburg today pick them up for me if I had the stuff down here(it's in Florence though). Apparently they get all tier Teflon from the polymer science dept on campus here.

Tanker...you should get your daughter to hit him up for a job! Ha I know that would be a dream one for me!

Got me excited now! Gonna be a good day!

Do you have a link to their website?

I've got an old gun or two that could use a refinishing.

Very Happy

I was there today and visited with Walley about an hour. They're letting me test a darker tint on my competition revolver sights. They look great!!! No glare.

I'm going to pick up my gun Thursday or Friday so if cliff doesn't have any I'll ask if they have any examples. Their website is very outdated, so don't expect a bunch out of it.

My brother did at least get the slim hardware to them today so they're going to coat it tomorrow and it'll be good to go!
