Recall on H&R Handi-rifles......????
I noticed the mention on another thread that there is/may be a recall on Handi's.
Is this true or just 'net rumor?
I've got a friend who's had a lot of trouble this year and last with his .45-70 Handi with failures to fire, with a variety of different ammo.
He had one just a week ago on what was to be his last deer of the season - a decent 8 point. Pulled the trigger and "click" - nothing.
I guess the good thing is if there's a recall he's got until next year's primitive weapon season to get it fixed.
Is this true?

So apparently it's just for .35 Whelens and no other calibers?
That's odd.
FTF in other calibers are probably the result of the exact same problem, they just won't admit it yet.

Yeah, I'd say it's about 4 years old.....first deer I killed with it was in Feb. 08. I am actually amazed at the accuracy of mine as well...of course, it has a VERY light trigger..........

I guess I'll have to look up mine. Most I bought as receivers and built though.

I've had my 45/70 for 3 years now, brought down 6 deer and 3 hogs with it, put about 40 rounds through it total, and never once had a problem. I use 405 grain Remington for hogs and 235 grain Hornaday Leverrevolution for deer.

The recall was for the 35 whelen and 35 remington. Evidently it was because of transfer bar problems. Something about those 35's that NEF just can't get right.
