ICORE Match This Sunday, Feb. 20th.

Post by Cliff Cargill on Wed Feb 16, 2011 5:42 pm

This Sunday morning (Feb. 20th) the Magnolia Rifle And Pistol Club will have the monthly ICORE match:

Set-up - 7AM

Shooter's meeting - 8:45

Match Starts - 9AM

Cost- Free for first timers, $15 for match fee, $10 for members of Team Magnolia.

Match: ICORE is somewhat like a USPSA, but not as complicated and is a little more straightforward when it comes to the designs of the courses. Easier to understand, if you will. Still a lot of fun, but perfect for the new shooter.

Equipment: Revolvers with at least 4 speedloaders/moonclips. Sturdy belt and holster that covers the triggerguard. Eye and ear protection and 125 rounds of ammunition.

New shooters can shoot a semi. You'll need 4 extra magazines.

There is some semi and revolver loaner gear available. PM me for details.

Don't be shy. If you've ever wanted to try your hand at a pistol competition, this is the place to do it. We'll help you get started, so come on!

See you there! thumbs up

Cliff.

As Cliff said, There was a great turnout Sunday and everyone had a great time!

I wish a few more people had gone with us to Reed's after the match.
I'll post some information from the meeting when I'm sure I have all the details correct.

In the mean time, Here's the scores:
Again, I have to apologize. The web site is inserting huge gaps between my html tables that should not be there. If anyone knows how to make that stop, please tell me.

Yes...it was a great day even when the wind picked up at inopportune moments. Thanks to the comaraderie and teamwork I just put 13 fresh rounds of my Rem .38Spc back in inventory for next time and much of my brass. Now I have to start trying to revamp my equipment for next time a.k.a. I need some stuff. Thanks to Cliff I was able to use metal holders for my speedloaders instead of my old duty pouches. I just found out Safariland has two speedloader dedicated types for the job- separate clips and a 3-loader tray for belt mount. I'll have to get 4 more Comp II loaders. I'm used to them...At least I got to run my bone-stock 686-3 for a change...My old holster broke 2 minutes before the match but ScottW stepped up with a holster that saved my day. It was for a 6" so my 4" had good room to rest...lol

Glad you had a good time. The ICORE club owns speedloaders, holders, holsters and even a revolver for those interested in trying it out at no charge. We did have a great match with lots of good shooters. We had great set-up and tear-down help...it just couldn't have gotten any better than that.

There are a couple of more 627 38 Supers being built by the revolver legend Bob Jones for 2 of our semi shooters and one of them is a lady!

Looks like encouraging more semi participation is working in our favor, so everyone bring that semi out and give it a try. thumbs up

Glad to be of assistance Docs150. We had a great match with some really good stages. I was recovering from 9+ days of being sick with cold and congestion and even found I had fever when I got home after the after match meeting. I think making the semi's more welcome have brought out many shooters. Michele Willis and her father Carl May had planned to shoot until an unexpected event came up that kept Michele from shooting. I have another Model 627 8-shot .357 Magnum, 4 Model 686's with moonclips, and 3 model 66's if anyone ever wants to borrow one to experience the fun of shooting revolvers. The Revolver recoils once rearward, upon being fired, versus the Semi-Auto recoiling rearward when fired then springing forward as the slide cylces back to the closed position. Something most shooters overlook or don't understand.
