Also:

HB506 says, "A person licensed under Section 45-9-101 to carry a concealed pistol..."

The reciprocity bit in 45-9-101 says, "(19) Any person holding a valid unrevoked and unexpired license to carry concealed pistols or revolvers issued in another state * * * shall have such license recognized by this state to carry concealed pistols or revolvers, provided that the issuing state authorizes license holders from this state to carry concealed pistols or revolvers in such issuing state and the appropriate authority has communicated that fact to the Department of Public Safety. "

My guess is that DPS would say that you are not "licensed" under 45-9-101, rather your license is "recognized" under 45-9-101.

If you'd like better information, you can reach the Firearms Permit Unit of the MS DPS via their contact information on this page: http://www.dps.state.ms.us/dps/dps.nsf/webpages/firearms_main?OpenDocument

We are here for military so we are still NC residents. NC does require an 8 hr class and you to qualify with a pistol to get your permit. Which I have done and have the certificate.

I read most of this but I'm confused and coming in on the back end of this. Does this mean we might be able to carry on college campus? So the bill passes to law but there is no clear cut answer if we can carry or not? Can someone summarize this for me? Thanks.

Now the other question would i be able to exercise this right since in have a NC permit and am stationed here with the military?

My name is Oscar and I offer the enhanced handgun course in Southaven MS. MS will not endorse your NC permit. As of right now I am unsure of your (active military) requirements but will have an answer for you Monday. My # 901-314-1238 feel free to call.
