Gulf Islands National Sea Shore
So me and some friends are going camping on either Horn or Petit Bois, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was legal to shoot out there or not. I have my CCW permit, so I'll be carrying regardless, but would like bring shotgun to shoot clays if I can. Now, I've definitely seen spent shells and broken clays out there before, so I know people shoot out there, but if it's not legal I won't take the chance.

Don't know; but please do not shoot clays out there!! I take the family out there a couple times each year and broken clays are not good on the bare feet; especially the little ones!!
Thanks for your understanding ....

+1 on not shooting clays, even offshore. Everything that hits the water hits the beach eventually.
Before katrina we went to the islands a lot. Never got around to replacing the boat so we don't go anymore. We used to ride waverunners until a group of highschoolers picked the wrong boat's wake to jump. He met with the Park Commision and then it was illegal to take a waverunner to the islands.
Police all your brass. Be EXTRA vigilant about your backstop. Pick targets of a biodegradable nature, i.e. sticks and logs etc.

Well for the clay debris problem I was planning on finding some biodegradable clays, but it turns out that they cost considerably more than normal clays, so if we do bring guns out there then we'll just shoot at logs or cans and stuff. Definitely going to keep track of the brass cause I've got to have something so I can reload and shoot again!

You guys make me homesick. I mademany a trip to Horn, Ship and Cat Island when I was growing up, all in a Yellow Jacket boat with a Scott Atwater outboard. Wow, I'm dating myself.
