USPSA Match This Sunday, March 6th In Byram At the Magnolia Rifle & Pistol Club...

At least 4 courses of fire and 125 rounds or so. Bring extra just in case. If you've ever wanted to try that Glock or whatever you carry in a match, this is a great place to do it. You need a gun, belt, at least 5 mags, holster, mag pouches, eye and ear protection and ammo.

If you don't have all of the above, pm me and we'll round up loaner gear. There's no match fee your first time out.

Set-up begins at 7am...match starts at 9am.

Magnolia Rifle & Pistol Club next to the Swinging Bridge.

Come give it a try! thumbs up

I forgot to post these after last month's match and really didn't think about it until Gale B and I talked about it at the "Clash of Metal" match. Many may not be interested, but for those that might be:

I used a "chest mount" for the camera this week rather than the head mount from the previous two matches to get a different perspective and also the be able to see the reload better. One note about this match, the ground was soggy so the stages were a little "tight". This made for some high round count-friendly stages.

My squad started on the classifier. 3 strings of fire and some mandatory reloads. I can post the link to the stage description later. I shot my only miss of the match stronghand on the second string. It was in the black "hardcover" less than an inch below the scoring area. Just pulled it down a tiny bit. Otherwise this one went pretty smooth:

Speaking of reloads, here is Robert K getting it done with a wheel gun on the second string of the classifier.

We then moved to Stage 4. This one shows a weakness of the chest mount, as you can't see what I am shooting at when I lean one way or another. I started with the two plates on the right that you see briefly on the start and finished with the plates on the left, one of which you can see at the start. A lot of shooters straddled the two boxes here, but I don't think it was the most efficient way to go. I could be wrong though:

Stage 5 probably could have been set up a bit better. Anyway, I got out of order in the second array and called a questionable shot in the back behind the barrels on the right. After finishing the last array on the right, I ran forward to make sure there was not a miss in the back. Fortunately, there was not. Truthfully, it would not have been worth picking it up if it had been a miss due to the delay:

I got some video of Gale B on Stage 5 as well while running the timer:

We then moved to Stage 1 which was all about timing. 3 shots per target required and knocking 2 of the steel down started the "clamshells". I picked a plan that I thought made sense, and it worked pretty well. I did call a miss on the far right and picked it up with not 1 but 2 extra shots. No idea why I fired 2, but the call was right as there were 4 hits on the far right target, not 5:

Here's Jeff shooting an alternate, but also successful, order:

That brings us to Stage 2, our final stage of the match. Nothing like mowing down some steel. Had a couple extra shots through the port, but they were picked up pretty quickly for an overall good run:

Here's video of Gale finishing up his match on Stage 5:

Yeah I appreciate you posting them. I enjoy dissecting how other people shoot a stage and try and learn from it.

Thanks for sharing the videos Bryant, it's cool to watch and artist at work. Now I just need to slow them way down to see what you are doing, you don't have to do that with videos of my stages, they are plenty slow enough.

P.S. Thanks for helping my friend Martin at the Clash of Steel match, that was very much appreciated.

Wow. Those look like some really good stages.

Gale, you sure have gotten faster since you and I shot the Gator in October. You are going to be great competition in May at the Classic!! I hope to be on the RO squad with you.
