Re: Browning Hi-Power anyone?
i'm lookin forward to it! ordered 4 spare 15rd mags for it also while I was at it....figured it couldn't hurt, and their price on mags was in line w/ everyone else.
CDNN definitely has the best price right now....I asked about ordering it at Vans and I had to walk away so I could laugh at their price($949 at first, then he came down a whopping $20 when I informed him I would be paying cash($100 bills), and the Outfitter had a much better price at $829-849, I don't remember which. But it still wound up being a good bit cheaper to do $699 from CDNN, and add in shipping and transfer fees, plus I KNEW I would be getting the 75th anniversary model.
So I'm still shipping it to the Outfitter, so I can keep some of the money local at least.
I have to say though! Its a good thing I can't afford this on a regular basis, because ordering from CDNN was WAY too easy for my own good!!!!

You got that RIGHT........
I have an image file of my FFL's license (which many online vendors will accept) and a CC..................... Not a good combo at times.......

I've had a Belgium-made Hi-Power for years. It is a fine handgun! I've even carried it concealed, but, now that I'm older and wiser, realize there are many better options for me carrying concealed. Just my opinion...

Understand that....until I get to that point though I'll just keep going like I am....who knows...I might even break down and get a Glock! The hi-power is a good way to acclimate the 9mm. But I'll stay away from .380s unless it's for a backup

got it!!!! smooth transfer with the Outfitter in Florence! The top of the box was nothing but magazines and the kid working the counter goes "dang...4 clips?!?" I opened the case and he said "dang! 5!?!?" I pulled the gun out and dropped the mag and said "nah....6...."
cleaned up quite nice after i got the cosmoline off!

Ladies and gentleman......we have a shooter!!! Awesome trip to the range this AM! Got to shoot my new BHP, and shot my first AK and SKS, which was pretty cool, as well as a couple different M&P .40s, which weren't half bad either.
Didn't have a lick out trouble out of the HP in about 250 rounds. After a bit of an acclimation period to it I had zero trouble keeping the rounds where I wanted them when I took my time.
I have decided that the grips must go though. Picked out a couple different sets of VZs, so we'll see which I decide on

I have a FN hi power standard in 40 cal and I love it. I have never had a problem with it. I would love to have a Browning HP in 9mm just to say I have both.

The browning is still made by FN(notice in the pictures on the slide it says made in Belgium, assembled in Portugal), so it's not like you're getting anything different. Still just a high quality gun. I know I now want another one to make a bit more carry friendly...not willing to butcher up my 75th anniversary model outside of new sights and maybe a trigger job

Got my simply rugged rig in! Black Cuda with removable IWB straps and a single black mag pouch.

Now I've got it setting in some Saran wrap and Johnson's pastewax to "break it in"

i have a hp & it has the fixed sights & is the standard model. it was my favorite carry pistol for years. it is always going to shoot. bet your life on it!!! it will shoot any mag you put in it. i have mags in the 32,25,20,& 13 round sizes. it doesn't care what type of ammo either. you put it in there & that damn gun will shoot it. FOR SURE.

After 3 range trips with it, so around ~700 flawless rounds, I gotta say I believe you! I can see why many proclaim it was JMB's attempt to one up the 1911

Re: Browning Hi-Power anyone?
I HAD both a standard and a practical at the same time. Key word is HAD. In a series of weak moments, I traded both away for other toys. One for a 5" S&W N frame 45ACP and the other for a 3" S&W K frame. Still have the K frame as it is LNIB. The 45 has been sold and money applied toward my now owned 3" N frame 45. Guess you can say I was more partial to revos than semi's.
But the desire for a hi power never left so now I have an FM clone. Hate to admit, but it shoots about as well as the FN's only does not look as well by a long shot. I alway put the slim navidex (sp) grips on my hi-powers and the feel is like it was custom made for my hands. Get them from Brownell's along with new grip screws.
The standard was the gun I used when I first started shooting USPSA. It shot well and never bobbled. I had many rounds through the standard with zero problems. I did remove the mag disconnet as it did make showing the weapon clear a bit of a hassle. It also allowed me to use mags without the rat trap. I am partial to mecgar mags for the hi powers so I wanted them to drop free.

Heard great things about the navidrex grips, but I'm pretty hooked on VZ grips right now so I'm going to be ordering a set whenever I get some cash. Trigger job is on the to-do list as well to eliminate the stupid mag disconnect! Dumbest "safety" ever!

I like the mouse trap mags except they rattle when loaded, full or not! I can smack em to make them quit, but as soon as I insert them into the gun they start again
