Waiting on CCW Permit!!
Well, I sent officially sent off for my permit today. I guess the next 45 days will be filled with working on my patience for it to get here. I still haven't totally committed to a carry gun so any suggestions would be appreciated. The 45's are my favorite in a handgun and I love the Springfield XD's, but I currently dont own any, but have shot a few.

what platform are you most familiar w/ in .45? i'm a 1911 guy personally...so i'll have to recommend a Kimber Compact, or Ultra model, or a Colt Defender, springer has one as well, but i dont keep up w/ them

The Springfield XD subcompacts, as well as the Ruger Sr9c's have excellent reputations. I own the Sr9c, and several friends have the XD and we are all happy. I wouldn't feel undergunned with either.

Re: Waiting on CCW Permit!!
Well, its been 26 days and still waiting on permit. I have decided on a carry weapon though- XDM 9 compact 3.8. At this point I don't have a holster yet but I'm still shopping around on some options. The options Im referring to so far are: crossbreeds, or the one from glock talk that 4runner mentioned he had made. One thing I have been concerned about is I'll be carrying while wearing slacks or a suit at times, so question is: does the crossbreed style perform well enough for that type of setup?

For me, slacks work better than jeans. Most of the time I will opt for my slacks just because my compact 9 in a crossbreed disappears, along with a DB380 in my rear pocket. However, I always wear the straight bottom shirts that I don't tuck in. I've not tried tucking a shirt in with my crossbreed out in public. It would prob'ly work, though, if you pulled out a little of the shirt after tucking it in so that there's some room there right above the belt line. But I think a person's shape has a lot to do with how well that works.

What kind of belt do you wear with your holster? I do understand that the belt is a very vital piece of carrying concealed and comfortably.

Right now I'm wearing a basic leather belt, but hopefully that will change sometime soon. I've been researching on and off for a few months, but I haven't decided on one yet. I'm leaning towards a Liger belt, but since I don't wear shirts that tuck in anymore, I might just go with a nylon belt.

Look at beltman, crossbreed also has their own...the choices are endless. Just make sure its a dedicated gun belt, because a xdm compact is still no light gun, especially if you opt for crossbreed's double mag carrier as well, which is a pretty awesome platform as well

The waiting will drive you crazy if you' ll let it, but I'm hanging in there. 36 days and counting. It shouldn't be much longer though. Come on CCWP!!!!

Mine took 47 days to get to me. I'm assuming they waited the whole 45 days and then finally mailed it out.

They have 45 days to issue it or send you a letter. Mailing time is on you. I got it in 47 or 48 days.
