for when you just can't conceal the AR/AK/870/500/etc....

very creative...ha but unless you're in a zombie/district 9/warzone situation....or jackson, then very much over kill.

but in all seriousness...i'm considering a phantom for my xdm w/ streamlight tlr-1 ( http://www.ravenconcealmentsystems.com/product_info.php?products_id=1575 ), more for transportation purposes than for CC, but possibly(although unlikely) on occasion, if concealable enough(IWB belt clips are also available), it might see some carry.

Anyone have one of these holsters? i've seen lots of good reviews on other forums...any thoughts or opinions on them?

I've yet to even try to carry my xdm(no CC holster yet), and have been thinking about another supertuck for it, but at the same time I love to try different stuff and i hate the idea of taking my light on and off when and if i decide to carry it..........I have my Kimber for my EDC...but i guess if i just HAD to go out into the ghetto when 22-30 rds of .45acp(at least 3 full 7rd mags +1 in the pipe) just wouldn't be enough, I'd have 49~rds of .40s&w(3 full 16 rd mags +1 in the pipe)...

guess i could always buy the quad mag carrier if i just got that desperate huh?

I've got a raven phantom LC for my Sig/Surefire X300 combo. I have CC'ed on occasion, but mostly when I go out hunting or shooting at the family land. I ordered the short body shield, so I could get a more positive grip on the gun during the draw. They are great holsters, and the carry options available from raven are pretty extensive. The main gripe I have with raven is the 4 month wait time to get your holster made and shipped to you. Another place you might consider, is talking to Peter at peterscustomholsters.com and looking at his spada holster. Not sure what his wait time is like right now. As far as retention goes, it's passive retention, but the retention on my personal gun is pretty good.

Like I said, I really only wear it when i'm carrying the gun with the light, most of the time, I wear the gun in a comptac paddle holster for Comp and most range time.

Some recommendations: If you plan to by in large carry this holster OWB. Get the Magpul dynamics cut (they call it MD). This means the holster will have a straight drop (neutral cant), and a short cut body shield. If you plan to IWB, you could get away with the short body shield, but I would personally choose to keep that in tact. If you buy mag carriers, definitely get the magpul dynamics cut. They cut the leading corner of the carrier at a 45, so when you bend, you don't dig the corner of your magazine carrier into your groin.

Thanks for the advice! Just the kind of stuff I'm looking for. I'm not usually one for tan, but that's a sharp rig!

Do you find it any harder to draw or conceal with the light attached? I'd think as long as the mouth of the holster stays above the waistband(when iwb) and the cover garment stays clear it shouldn't be much different?

I had one for my Glock 19 with a Viridian X5L. It fit the gun/light like a glove, no problems at all drawing with the light and no problem concealing it either. I only used it when I had the light attached though

It would be a similar experience to carrying a cross breed. The entire point is to basically spread out the contours of the gun across as wide a platform as possible. So instead of a bulge in your pants, you have a gentle outward curve. Drawing is not really all that different. If you were to put it on a timer, there would be a difference, but for the most part, not really.

i decided to take the plunge....just ordered the LC Phantom for my xdm40 4.5", double mag carrier, soft loops and the pancake wings....4-5 months.....lord.........i didn't even like the idea of waiting for a sparks holster for that long.............really hope I like this rig cuz that total hurt, especially since I needed to pay up front instead of waiting 4-5 months when I might have no money...from what I've been hearing about them forever I wont be disappointed though

Almost as bad as when my Kimber was at Birdsong's!

The worst thing is you can go to their website and see where your order stands......really makes it worse because I kept going and checking every week or so!

Let us know how you like it when it comes in!

Oh, and you don't normally carry 4 mags?? I thought everyone did that...or is that just in Jackson?

You know; I do not own but 3 holsters -- 1 for the 500S&W, an OLD 6-gun holster, and a el cheap-o for my S&W M&P 9MM ...... guess I need break down and get something decent ....

Kinda fun to collect cap.....mine are mostly 1911 holsters(my Kimber compact in particular), except for the simply rugged Cuda for my BHP(probably my favorite holster so far), and then there will be this one. It was more of a "oh what the heck" kind of purchase though! I never had any intention or reason to carry my xdm.....but it'll be nice to have the option...higher capacity than my high power and a bigger bullet

Still not a fan of long waits for holsters though.....like my milt sparks holsters, they typically have a 6-7 month wait, one of mine came from a gun show and one from a online Mlit Sparks distributor(really didn't need it but they're hard to come by). My crossbreed came from midway. And my Simply Rugged only had a 2-3 week wait. So far my longest wait has been EagleStroker! His is my favorite for my Kimber though right now! It's easily the best looking. Plus it's(and the SR rig) helping to make me a believer in OWB carry

Guess I should really spend more on guns/ammo and less on holsters ha. They all get used though! I don't have a box or drawer full of unused holsters. Mine are dependent on my clothing for the day really, because are thinner/thicker, etc

Got it!

Also got the soft IWB straps and the pancake wings

I'll likely keep the wings on for a while

Business end, you can see the tlr-1 peaking through.

Smooth inside:

Feels really sturdy! Carries well so far. The grip is a big large to conceal too well so this is not going to be an EDC gun.......I'm not in the habit of adding layers to conceal a gun...I'm a fan of just a tshirt over a 1911 or my BHP so we'll just see what I come up with

Congrats! Raven Concealment makes one of the best holsters on the market IMHO. I have used mine to IWB carry a Glock 17 with TLR-1s weaponlight and two spare mags on a 9 mile hike in Colorado with no discomfort...can't do that with many others!

Now that RCS has a quick ship line, consisting of most Glocks, m&ps and govt model 1911s, all without a light, I decided to order one today for my new g26. Time frame is less than 45 days, and many of the reports I'm seeing right now are claiming less than 3 weeks. It's basically like an old Ford, you can have any model you want, as long as its black and has no options.

Of course if you order any non quick ship items they bump your entire wait to the longer timeframe, so I held off on a mag carrier for now.
