Shooting Reloaded Lead Bullets in a Glock
I just read an advisory regarding shooting lead bullets out of octagonal barrels, as opposed to coated/jacketed, which expressly referenced Glock, H&K and some others. It indicated there was a danger of excussive leading causing pressure problems of some sort. The only reason I'm trying to get into reloading is for purposes of an ammo source for my Glock and hopefully a Kel Tec Sub 2000 (if ever available) in the future. Is there any legitimate basis for concern or is this just gun companies covering their asses for purposes of tort liability?

there have been some test that say lead dont hurt but then some have almost gone "kaboom" so be on the safe side and buy a Lone Wolf barrel... its only like $100 bucks +/-
Personally i have seen what lead shot through a full auto MP5 can do... they still cleaning lead out 4 years later..

Some people do it with no problems. I think alot of comes down to the hardness of your bullet. There are replacement barrels out there with conventional rifling to help.

First and foremost, firing reloaded ammunition from your Glock pistol voids the warranty. Having said that, I have shot many thousand rounds of .40 and 9mm through Glocks using straight WW. I believe that slowing the speed down and using a hard bullet helps with leading. I have always been careful to watch for leading b/c I remember when Gulfport PD blew up a couple with reloads (that was several years ago). When shooting lead from an auto (not just Glocks), I would check after a box or so then clean the bore to remove any lead I found. *This can be done by firing 4-5 jacketed rounds but that also has to be a judgment call because you can't wait until the barrel is leaded down or you will have overpressure issues.* Personally, I would shoot no more than a box then run a few jacked to clean it out. I have done this many many times over the years. I also used to do this when we carried wheel guns. It made cleaning that old smith a little easier at the end of the day.

So is a Lone Wolf replacement a conventional barrel or just stronger?

Lone Wolf barrels have conventional rifling instead of Polygonal rifling.

I've shot many thousands of lead through Glock barrels...The little 9's don't run fast enough to lead up much
No biggie...but if it worries you buy a lone wolfe barrel and drop it in

Appreciate all the advice from those above. If I get this reloading thing going, I think I'll play it safe and pick up the Lone Wolf Barrel. Taking the first steps toward getting into reloading/casting has demonstrated to me how valuable this forum is in preventing newbies from making bonehead mistakes.
