Clever...now if I only had a Star. Having used SubGunFan's I will say since you can crank them through so quickly, it WILL start to wear on your arm. After about 300 you know it.

You might as well automate the entire process!
Pretty creative I gotta admit....

The timing of this post is really spooky... I was actually thinking about automating my Star but I gotta cast the bullets to motivate me. Does it seem to anyone else that this is a real Rube Goldberg?? I mean, I can't understand why there are two switches and what seems to be two electric motors connected by a belt...
I was thinking of mounting 1 motor with link (like a wiper motor's link) on the table with some kind of compound oscillating link to the Star's spinning shaft (where the handle is attached) and set it off with a timed momentary switch in a foot pedal.
Can anyone explain the need for YouTube 2nd motor? or the 2nd electrical switch?

It's not two motors, that's a reduction gear box on the bottom to reduce the rpm of the motor. Motor is probably about 800rpms gearbox output 10-20 rpms. Then the size of the pulleys also reduces final rpm output of the gearbox. He is using two switches to keep his fingers from getting smashed. The switch he works with his knees starts the motor and the switch on the cam on the bottom shuts it off. If he didn't do it that way it would just work the arm constantly. He used light switches instead of limit switch $2 vs $50 Not Rube Goldberg, pretty solid electical and mechanical DIY engineering. IMO
