This is the match to shoot your favorite carry gun !!!

Such as a 38 Snub-nose, 380 auto, Compact 9mm, 40, or 45,

Or whatever you carry.

(Please, no magnum ammo)



Eye and Ear protection to be worn, even by spectators.



You do not have to be a member of Southwest MS Gun Club to shoot in this Match. Bring your friends.

Doug, can you explain the COF? Also, will capcity be an issue? This sounds great.

There is no match at Magnolia that day.

Contact Maurice for more details. They will fire the plates, moving target and perhaps the practical event. You should bring 200+ rounds to the match.

My idea is for this to be a fun match. Plus, most of us need more practice shooting under pressure with our carry guns. Shooting against the clock and in fount of other shooter will add a little stress.

Six stages, shooting for the fastest time.

Stage One : one target (10 yards) – shoot till the target is down.
Stage Two: two targets ( 10 yards) – Shoot till both are down.
Stage Three: - Mix of bad guy / friendly ( 10 yards) , shoot till bad guy target is down
Stage Four: Double tap very close target.
Stage Five: One target at 7 yards – shoot till your gun is out of ammo. I have this set up to even out the score for guns with different ammo capacities.
Stage Six: One target at 6 yards – double tap.

I hope this helps. I don’t want to give out the details of each stage before the match.

The amount of ammo depends on how well you shoot. I’m bringing 50 rounds since I’m not the best shot around.

For safety reasons, we will not draw from a CCW holster. The gun will either be held in hand or placed on a table.

This is a match designed to improve your speed and accuracy with the gun you carry most often. So it is more important to shoot your carry gun than to have the fastest time of the day.

Shoot your gun the way you carry it, Lasers are OK for this match. Rimfire pistols are OK. If the only pistol you have is a full size gun, come shoot with it. As I said, this is about improving your speed and accuracy with the gun that may save your life some day. Plus, I plan for this to be a fun to shoot match.

We had a great match today with our carry guns. The weather was perfect and you could not have ask for a better bunch of guys to shoot with.

It was fun shooting the targets wearing t-shirts and hats. The “kill zone” was covered and we had to shoot at “center mass”. I was amazed at the number of hits to the “kill zone” .

Here are the scores (fastest time wins)( 5 second penalty for not “killing” the target).
