Learn how to consistently hit targets out to 500yds and beyond with each breath from field positions (standing, sitting and prone). Learn about natural point of aim, steady hold factors, proper sling use, the rifleman's bubble, cadence and more! You will shoot 500 rds in two days and no matter what your skill level, you will come away a better shot. april 16-17. Desoto Rifle and Pistol Club, Como, MS. (by Sardis Lake). Excellent course

Excellent course. Started as patriotic/history/rifleman dominance of 500yd radius. That is the basis of 500yd goal with iron sights. Started in Ramseur NC , has since spread nationwide. Tough course for people that think they were born knowing how to shoot. I attended the first instructor "boot camp" in Aug 2006, since then I have taken family and friends to 4 weekend courses. Ammo since 2006 has skyrocketed, and focus has shifted to affordable .22. The basics are the same. Instructors are truly inspired teachers. If you can assume the positions and follow the steps for taking a shot, you can be expecting hits on a 1 inch square @ 25 yds over iron sights on day two. That's a 20" target at 500yds and it's within everyones reach. It's fun. (Now I'm preaching to the choir). This course is available at Turcotte several times a year & usually has 15-20 attendants. With the cost of gas today, we need more and closer classes than Como.
Even more important Appleseed students are learning America's history, what happened at Concord and why. We are passing on a patriotic heritage and by the way, getting new--grassroots--citizens and their families off the couch and involved in shooting sports. Second Amendment and all that!

At the start guys were shooting MBRs, women ARs . Surplus 30-06 and .308 was less than 17cents a round back then which we thought was exorbitant.
