Keeping gun owners' identities secret

Post by NRA_guy on Tue Apr 12, 2011 5:59 am

The Mississippi Legislature needs to get busy and correct a serious deficiency in the Mississippi CCW law.

Our law allows the state to release CCW permit holders' information (not immediately upon issue, but so many days afterwards---I can look it up but don't have time now.)

Illinois is facing a FOI demand by a liberal news organization for their CCW data and the state Attorney General says the state must provide it. The state law makers are rushing through a bill to prevent the release. The state office with the data is dragging its feet hoping the law gets passed.

Here is the story:

One opponent (in another version of the article) was interesting: An opponent to the release of the data said that releasing the names of those who have CCW permits would endanger the lives of all those who were NOT on the list because criminals would know they are unarmed.

Yeah, I see no reason to have to post my name just because I have a permit....

It doesn't bother me much because no one reads a paper any more... especially the young "democrats"

I believe for the price of a 'permit' my privacy should be a clause. You're supposed to and should carry concealed and our business should be also-except of course for instant checks for law enforcement safety.

Back when the MS CCW law first passed, Mabus' stoogette in the
MHP , a malignant toad who used to be his wife's college roommate
according to some, found a loophole or two in the wording of the law, first of all
there was no specific time limit on when she could "shall issue" the
permits so she sat on every one that came in until either the
legislature in a rare moment of common sense, rewrote the law
in the next session to insist it be granted withn 120 days from date
of application, assuming all the checks went through ok.

In the interim though until the law got clarified, even though she
sat on the permits endlessly as her way and Mabus's to not
comply with the law that the democrats so opposed along with
the local media, she released weekly to the Carrion Dredger and
others the names AND addresses of permit holders. There was
a significant increase after that in burglaries at those same
addresses since all the thugs had to do was watch the house
and wait for the homeowner to go to work and they had all
day long more or less to plunder the homes of guns or any
other valuables. I believe the revised law put a stop to those
practices and even the Carrion Dredger(local branch of the
NYT and Washington Post drive by liberal media) eventually
quit printing the addresses and names after some well connected
Eastover types told them they would sue the individual reporters
and the paper itself out of existence.

This "outing" of law abiding people exercising their 2nd Amendment
rights is nothing more than a cheap shot at trying to destroy
the 2nd Amendment through the back door.

Yep, that was when I got my first Mississippi CCW, before that the local insurance agency wrote me a bond that I had to present to the Forrest Co. sheriff's office to allow me to carry concealed because I was a restaurant mgr at the time, carried a lot of money, sometimes late at night, to the night deposit. My mother called me one Sunday, wanting to know why I had my name in the paper as a CCW permit holder. She had read my name on a list in the Clarion-Liar.
