I have a hard time going with a Taurus.. I have had issues with 3 of the Taurus that I have had in the past. 2 revolvers and 1 auto, and I don't mind paying for a good auto. So what are some of the compact single stack 9s besides the PF9 and LC9.

Kahr PM9, Kimber SOLO (If you can Find one), Walther PPS (not absolutely sure of that model name), The Kel-Tec PF9 (the least expensive alternative).

Give alot of thought to what Cliff just said. I did, followed his advice, and the wife loves her 640.

I know many people think the 32, 380 and 9 are all too small, but when you start shooting at someone I doubt they will say "Hey he is only shooting a 380" and stick around. I am leaning toward the 9mm either in Kel Tec or Kahr, just got to get out and put my hands on one.

I have no quibble with what anyone wants to carry, but the rationale you've just offered, that no one will stick around once the shooting begins, seems only to be supported by the idea that you don't want to carry "a big gun". If you draw and start shooting a .45, everbody's diving for cover. Or maybe I'm wrong. But I'm not betting my life on a .380, or even a 9mm.

For auto's the Kahr cw9 is a great ccw is hot weather.Had one and liked it.. With a little one I would invest in a small safe that can be opened by touch in the dark.

I prefer a j frame in the summer, a Glock in the Winter and a 1911 on special occasions.

I got a hold of a Keltec PF9 a few months ago. I have fallen in love with this thing. Its a wonderful 9mm carry. The cool thing is it has a picatinny on the front so you can mount a weapon light which makes it double as a compact house gun.

Its a handful though, lightweight 9mm comes at a price. The muzzle flip reminds me of a 357 snub without the sting afterwards... Well its not that bad, but you can feel it jump Smile

For the $$ its a great deal, think i paid below $400 with tax and some shells.

Man.. This thread has taken on new life.. I have not found a single gun that I like for both purposes.. So I am keeping the Kel Tec 32 for CC and gonna use a SP101 357 for home defense.
