Clash Of Metal, Man -vs- Man This Saturday, April 23rd at Magnolia Rifle & Pistol Club....
2 shooters
2 shooting boxes
5 pieces of steel counting 1 popper that is crossed for tie breaker
We will have Open and Limited to start. We may have side matches down the road for .22's.
We will do elimination by best 2 out of 3. Once a shooter has 3 losses on their card they do not advance. We will establish classes as the program advances. We'll use known ability and will look at classifications from other shooting sports like USPSA and ICORE and will handicap accordingly. In other words, if a newer shooter is going against a more experienced one they'll have to knock down fewer targets.
This is drag racing with guns!
It's the most fun I've ever had and a hoot to just watch.
$5.00 entry fee and the match is 4th Saturday of every month. Matches willl start in the 8:30 to 9 range..
Questions?

Finished about 2:00. As we smooth out the program it should move a little faster.

I think this weekend will be stationary steel and then cross poppers in the center. He mentioned at ICORE with the classic coming up, they didnt want to put unnecessary wear and tear on the pepper poppers. That could change though, that's just what I was told.

Should be there, just hope I don't draw a GM twice in a row like last time, boy that Bryant is bloody fast.

Yeah, may have to kick Bryant in the knee just prior to the start of the match. Maybe with him shooting while standing on one foot, we might have a chance...

Could I suggest a few things to the group and see what everyone thinks.
1) shooters should have to change sides between each string to insure fairness, i.e. if I start in the box on the left, I should move to the right box before the second string, if the match is tied after two strings, the last person to win has choice of which box to shoot from, left or right.
2) a starting point for handicapping, if the two shooters are different classes, the higher ranked shooter should spot the lower ranked shooter one target for each class he/she is higher then the lower ranked shooter, up to a maximum of three targets, i.e. an "A" shooter vs a "C" shooter, the "A" shooter would spot the "C" shooter 2 targets, again this would be a starting point for handicapping, the two shooters can agree on any number of targets or none at all.

it still has to be agreed on. Cause as we all know just because your not classified doesn't mean your not as good as a "A" class.

Forget last forecast-Local and The Weather Channel were at 40% until this storm hit...lol Whatever we're shootin' it'll still be better than what a lot of folk will be doing i.e. watching re-runs 'cause there's nothing else on.
Update: 9:37pm-only change looks like more wind...about the same as last time.

One, Two, Three, you're out, well in my case it was, lose, win, lose, and finally lose, all that by 11:15AM.
If I would have shot at my own game and tried not to race, I my have lasted longer, guess I need to work on applying the brakes.
Still a fun time and great practice for transitions and shooting under pressure.
