MS State Senior Shooting Games

This year we are going to modify the rifle program of this event. In the past the prone and sitting portions of this event have been very difficult for our older shooters. Any person can participate in this event, even if you are under 50 years of age. The fee for people under 50 is $5.00. Call me if you have any questions. We have .22 rifles and pistols available to loan for this event. We also have .22 rf ammo available at $2.00 per box of 50 rounds. Participants that are not Citizens of Mississippi are welcome. We are adding 10 extra shots standing to the CMP Sporter Rifle Program.

2011 MS Senior Games .22rf Rifle and Pistol Championships


When: May 7, 2011, 10:00AM (signup starts at 9:30AM)


Where: Southwest Gun Club Range, 8.3 miles East of I-55 Exit 15A on US Highway 98. Driving East of McComb on US Highway 98, when you pass the Homestead turnoff sign, the range driveway is two miles past the Homestead sign, on the North side of US Highway 98. Coming from Tylertown on US 98, after entering Pike County and passing the Bogue Chitto Water Park, look for the convenience store on the right. The range driveway is 2.2 miles further on US 98 to the West. The name of the road is Edna Drive.


Eligibility: Any US Citizen 50 years old or older is eligible for Senior Games Awards. Age categories are 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 and over. 3 medals will be provided for each age category as prizes. Medals will be awarded to Mississippi and out of State shooters. Men & Women will have their own award categories. To assure a position in the match, you must be pre-registered and send check or MO with registration. There will be a maximum of 25 shooters. Payment to be made to the Southwest Gun Club. Those not pre-registered would be able to participate depending on range availability.


Categories: In the rifle event, telescope and iron sights are allowed. Telescopes may not exceed 6 power. If a variable power telescope is used, it may be set on 6 power or less.


Fees: $25.00 per shooter. The fee includes $20.00 for the Senior Games Committee and $5.00 for the Southwest Gun Club. Anyone registering for any of the Senior Games may participate in all Senior Games activities without paying an additional registration fee. No extra registration fee would be needed for the Cowboy Action shoot in Mendenhall.


EQUIPMENT:

FIREARMS:

Rifles and Equipment: .22 Long Rifle caliber rifles that weigh 7.5 pounds or less with sights installed. NO thumbhole or adjustable stocks are allowed. No Shooting Jackets or Gloves may be used. A garment glove and two extra sweatshirts may be used. Spotting scopes may be used.


Handguns: Optical sights may be used in the Modified NRA Camp Perry Match Course.


Ammunition: Any .22 Long Rifle ammunition for rifle competition. In the handgun competition, .22 Short or .22 Long Rifle ammunition may be used. No tracer ammunition will be allowed. Bring 150 rounds of ammunition for the match. Note: We have firearms available for loan.


Targets:

.22rf CMP Sporter Match B19 International pistol target.

.22rf NRA Camp Perry Course B8 targets


Rules:

Rules for the Rifle Match will be CMP RF Sporting Rifle Rules

Rules for the Pistol Matches will be NRA Conventional Pistol


Courses of fire:

CMP Sporting Rifle Standing portion only

All shooting done on B19 target:


25 yards

10 minutes sight in period, unlimited sighters

20 shots standing slow fire in 2 strings of 10 shots in 10 minutes minutes

10 shots standing rapid fire in 5 shot strings of 30 seconds

Sling may not be used in standing position


NRA Camp Perry Modified Course for Pistol (all shooting done at 25 yards, one or two handed)

10 minutes sight in period, unlimited sighters

10 shots slow fire in 5 minutes on B8 target

2 strings of 5 shots timed fire in 20 seconds each on B8 target

2 strings of 5 shots rapid fire in 10 seconds each on B8 target
