Hi Point 9mm carbine?
A friend of mine has given some thought to buying Hi Point's 9mm carbine, and I was wondering if anyone's had experience with one? What are you thoughts, please?

Re: Hi Point 9mm carbine?
I purchased one for my wife as a home defense weapon. She cares very little for handguns but loves the little carbine. I must say I have put more rounds through it than she has and never had a bit of trouble. I did put a different stock on it recently and it has had a red dot scope on it.
As far as being accurate I really don't remeber how it grouped when I sighted in the red dot. It has no problem 6 inch steel targets at 40yds. I just wish the clip was a double stack style the 10rd clip gets empty real quick.
Recoil is nothing, my seven year old son can shoot it. The gun is a bit on the heavy side.
The price (not sure what they run now) was very reasonable I have roughly about $250 in the gun. The newer style stock I put on it makes the gun a lot more eye pleasing than the factory look.
Will post up a pic in a bit.

They aren't very pretty, but... I've got one and have to admit that it hasn't missed a beat. It's not the most accurate weapon but I don't think most folks would expect it to be. I like it for what it is and would buy another one in a heartbeat. They're fun to shoot and hard to beat for the price.

Here is a pic of the one I have. The stock is a Beretta clone I believe and I added a shroud to the barrel. It actually added a little balance to the gun. All it really needs now is a better rail for the red dot and while I got the scope off I need to rattle can that shiny scope.

My Dad has had one for years and claims he's never had so much as a hiccup out of it. He mainly uses his to shoot snakes and other varmints around his farm ponds and such.
So I've heard, out of a carbine length barrel the 9mm develops about the same velocity as a .357 mag. handgun. That's fairly respectable, if true.
They're ugly as a mud fence, but hey, if it works, it works.

Mine has been a decent gun as well. Get the aftermarket stock like above and it looks and shoots good. The best part is customer service.. Need a replacement part - They ask for the address and ship it to you free..

If I didn't have a Kel-Tek 2000 in glock .40, I'd be all over one. I held Beretta's compact but didn't like the feel. Too bad since I have a 92F and plenty of mags I got over the years from Armed Forces guy, brother-in-law brought me one every time he came home.
Can't beat the price, won't find anything else, rifle or pistol, close for $250.

Hmmm... interesting. I've pretty much given up on finding a Sub-2000 in 9mm, might consider one of these. A little "Buck Rogers" looking with that stock, but not ugly. Wife's afraid of shotguns, might be a good HD gun for her.
No HiCap mags available? That thing needs a 30, or a 20 at least.

They make a 15rd now but it sticks out the bottom of the grip. I just stuck with the 10rd clips and purchased multiple of those.

I've shot a .40 before. It had a good bit of recoil if I remember right. The 9mm shouldn't be bad though.

I notice all the pics are of the old style Hi-Point Carbines. The new TS (Target Stock- Some people call them Tactical Stock) carbines are much nicer looking guns. I had the 4095TS (.40 Cal). I dont think you could get much better carbine for 300 bucks.

I have one of these with the new style stock. Put several rounds thru it without a hiccup. For $250.00 dollars I think it's a great purchase. Fun to shoot and ammo is inexpensive. Worth the money...

I've had a 995 TS for about a year now and love to shot it. Have not had a problem of any kind. All type and make of ammo, no problems. Hi-Point has a lifetime warranty no matter how may times it changes hands.

Yep I have used that warranty a couple times and I am third owner.. No questions asked other than my name and address... Part arrived in the mailbox a few days later..

I'm looking for one for a female relative. Seems like it would work well for someone short of stature. Can't say I've ever fired one before myself though.
