Whatever discipline you practice, what is the best tip, or tips, you could give to other shooters? Please list your discipline and some details for your tip.

Thank you!

SGMJody has been getting on to me more and more here lately about finger placement. Apparently, I am not very consistent with it. Thanks SGF!!!!

Tell folks new to any competitive shooting sport to leave their egos at home and focus on the fun aspects of shooting...

Too many folks are self-conscious and thus never try anything until they get the perfect setup....or won't come try at all...and the sad thing is...They are worse off for it

I say Hogwash....but you gotta let that ego stay calm...cause they be's lots of good ole boys that can really shoot...

I get my ass handed to me all the time....Its Ok..it really is...I compete against me....

I hear you Neck. I try to compete against me, somewhat. I set a goal for myself before every match. Or, when just shooting, I always have something I want to accomplish.

I'm also extremely competitive and like to see how my performance compares to others.

'Neck, I am just beginning to learn about accuracy. I can see the scores climbing in the 22RF F-Class, so my abilities must climb as well if I want to continue to compete.

Please, keep the tips coming!

My best tip is to try to keep everything consistent. From golf I learned stay with the same preshot routine. I do the same with shooting. Before every shot, when shooting my Kimber, I load the chamber, pick up the butt of the rifle and place it in my shoulder, place my cheek on the stock (hopefully in the same place every time), and set them all down together. After that, it's pure luck!

Draw fast, AIM and squeeze. Cause you can't MISS fast enough to compensate for a well placed shot, plus you don't waist as much ammo.

Outlaw Steel, one match
man vs man, one match
22rf F-Class, one match.

squeeze the trigger on the pause between breaths " basic 101 marksmanship" and only use the pad of your fingertip to squeeze the trigger with.

Patience while practicing. Dont get fustrated when things dont go as plan.
Ive been shooting since i was 5 and still learning. Up until 2 years ago i started learning accuracy. Now its addicting.
Learn the fundamentals and when they become second nature all you have to do is have fun!
Im not really a competitive person, i just love to shoot.

It basically boils down to trigger control after the basic fundamentals are met.

I'd say squeeze the trigger, keep a consistent sight picture, concentrate and make sure to hit the right target (guilty of this on two occasions), and be aware of the effect that the wind will have on the bullet as it travels downrange. At least that would be my advice for .22 F-Class. Highpower shooting is another ballgame.... Razz

.22 F-Class Matches
CMP Highpower Matches
Outlaw Steel - one match
