S&W M&P Pro Holster ?

Post by scooterbear on Thu May 12, 2011 8:53 pm

I have a S&W M&P 9MM 5" Pro Series arriving Monday. I plan to use the M&P in competition. Which holster do you recommend?

I'd look at Bladetechs DOH Kydex or a similar offering from Comptac. Both are quality and very secure and fast. I've owned blade techs for years and use them for carry and competition as well. Glad you opted for the M&P Pro. I think you're going to like how it shots and it's accuracy.

I have the M&P 40 Pro 5" - I'm getting one from Triple Crown in Oklahoma City - the price is great and if its good enough for Kurt Miller its good enough for me...

That's a nice pistol to say the least. What makes it the Pro Series? Gonna be ready out the box or will you be having trigger work and such done to it.

The Pro series option adds about $60.00 and a couple upgrades- an "enhanced trigger" (think it's about 4.5 lbs.) and Novak fiber optic sights. Supposedly it's competition ready out of the box, although I do read of some guys eventually getting additional trigger work or changing the sights.

Scooterbear have you found any deals on spare mags?

I can get the 17 round 9mm magazine for $36.00.

Thanks for all the input on the holsters. I'm still deciding on which one to get. I plan on shooting the M&P next Saturday at the McComb match.

I have a M&P 9L, same size as the Pro and I use Comp-Tac's paddle holster. Not a bad holster, but I'd like to try a Blade-Tech DOH.

The only advantage the blade tech has is that you can remove the Drop & Offset attachment. I used one for a while but the Ready Tactical is significantly easier to draw from since it has a cleaner drop & offset shelf versus the attachment on the Blade Tech that your thumb can get caught/jammed on, etc. At least in my experience.
