Scope for Remington 700P 308

Sooooooooo, this "friend" of mine is picking up a 700P in 308 next week and he is wondering about a good scope. I am He is most likely going to use this for inside 300 yards most of the time for some hunting and range fun, but longer range would be nice for distance target shooting. Under 1000 is the budget.

I have the Bushnell elite 6500 2.5x16x50 and it is a fine scope. great clarity and awesome in low light hunting situations.

I have a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50. I haven't used it past 300 though. It was great to there. It also has the BDC reticle and using my Spot-On iPhone app, I can get pretty close to the trajectory.

I have a Nikon Monarch BDC 4x16x50 on mine....could very easily see the 300 yd. gong shots at the M&G with it.... will be about $600 ish...... very clear!
