Critique my reloads

Post by bsdubois00 on Mon May 23, 2011 9:35 am

I've been working on my reloads - Got a suggestion from an Oklahoma firearm instructor to get my pistol higher and been working on that.

Any other suggestions?

Put a white dot on the inside lip of your mag well... don't tAKe your eye off the dot while you reload

I'm in little place to critique, but I would pick my head up, and avoid compressing your arms too far in to do the reload. The farther you can keep your arms pressed out, the less time it takes to get back into your proper grip and reacquire your sights. Also try indexing your hand a little further up on the magazine with your index finger almost, if not on the tip of the first round. It gives you complete control of the magazine as you insert it into the mag well. I know you have those extended base pads, but the CR speed pouches thankfully have a nice channel on the side so you can very easily index near the feed lips of the magazine. Hopefully Cliff and or Bryant can chime in, they are waaay more qualified than I to critique technique lol.

Kinda off the subject but are you closing one eye when you come back on target?

I would think so as it would be an AD right? Also the angle on the webcam sorta over emphasizes the angle. I looked in the mirror an its closer to parallel than it looks. But I do need to work on it for sure.

You deserve a 12 hour ban for that mistake LOL. Thanks everyone for the tips. I'm still new to the game but I'm going to work my rear off to get where I want to be....I can't get there with out some critiques and suggestions...

Yes if you send one over the berm it's a dq. If your gun goes off in a reload it's a dq.

Hey..... I shoot with one eye closed..... Smile

Have all my shooting life.

Your reloads look very good for someone early in their comp shooting. However, all that drawing and reloading practice is wasted if you miss up the shots with bad trigger control..............

Looking GOOD.

I'm with you Sub - when I played golf (before I got this new hobby) - I was a decent golfer - 10 handicap or so. I would use a baseball style grip and not interlock my fingers - I was ALWAYS told my grip was wrong but you know what IT WORKED for me - Jim Furyick (spelling?!?) is the PRIME example - what works for me may not work for you etc etc. But I will try to work on both eyes open - its on my TO DO list LOL

You look smooth, but I would bring the gun to my line of sight w/o ducking your head and crouching so much. As Myers mentioned before, a slight bend in the arms works well. Also keep the gun in line with the targets...in other words, a little higher.

Hope this helps.
