I have only owned 4 and only shot a couple more but for me it it without question..........S&W 5909........wonderfully built, accurate, reliable, and looks cool to boot. May be a little too big to carry but I know that make a compact stainless 3rd generation

Glock has been ruled out so it's hard to get too excited about the options that are left. I suppose I would explore the Sig lineup a little bit. The Beretta M9 would be my first pick from the "left overs" but it's a little to bulky for a carry piece.

well since it was a friends and if i could only have one... id have to keep my S&W 915 i guess, as i dont get rid of keepsakes from friends...
that said, if i were to go out and buy a 9mm,
the XDm's have it...
tough as nails gun, accurate, and 19+1 is a good thing.

Repeat of the others: SIG, XDc, or Ruger SR9c. I'd say if you were carrying IWB, that the slimmer frame of the Ruger may have the edge..... even though the XD9c tucks ok as well.....

S&W 5906 while watching Reservoir dogs..Steve Buscemi demonstrated the two fisted technique.
Other than that a Sig 226 ..old version made in Germany..

Other than a Glock…..
The only other 9mm’s I have shot is the Ruger P95, Beretta 92FS, and the Taurus 24/7. Out of those I would choose the Taurus 27/7. The Ruger is dead on accurate for me, but I have had some issues because of how the magazine release is setup on it. The Beretta 92FS is accurate for me also, but it find it hard to grip sometimes comfortably because I have “medium” size hands and I have to regrip every few shots. The Taurus 27/7 however has functioned flawlessly for me. I have put a few thousand rounds through it and the only issue I have ever had was a round failed to fire and that was an issue with the ammo. The round was a Winchester White Box round that failed to fire after three good striker hits. I Taurus is comfortable in my hand also. That’s all I vote on because that’s the only 9mm’s I have shot.

That's thinking "outside the box"
Saw one at last gun show...$10,500...had to pass. This is no surprise coming from me, but I'll throw in with the S & W crowd. A wide variety of "2nd" & "3rd" generation guns...specific model depends on where you want it on the range vs. carry continuum. Very good values, classic lines, virtually indestructible. Compact or fullsize. Lightweight or heavy. Blued or stainless. Single-stack or double-stack. A model for everyone. 469 or 5906 are both good, have them both (as well as a couple more

Re: If you had to own just 1 9mm
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm probably going to go with the XDm 3.8. Havn't decided on compact or not.
I don't dislike Glocks. But for a carry piece, I prefer a fairly long, heavy DAO trigger with no external safety, or a striker fired or SA trigger with an external safety. Just personal preference.

Confusing me a bit..... contradictory perhaps? Maybe it's just me and my comprehension skills. ha
If I can't have a Glock or a 1911... with that criteria, I would take the xDM.... excellent pistol!
