Leica LRF 900 Scan Laser range finder
Anyone have any experience with these?
I am not to familiar with the laser range finder world but this is a nice one I can say that. The scan option is pretty handy. Does anyone own a Leica product? Thanks.

Re: Leica LRF 900 Scan Laser range finder
I have the older Leica 1200 Rangemaster Scan Mode Laser and I wouldn't trade it for any other, though I have no experience with the newer Leicas or Swarovskis.
I have two Leica products, a Televid 77 and the 1200 Rangemaster. I bought the 77 on a lark at a fire sale and replaced a Meopta only because I lucked out, finding found the 77 used and equal to the Meopta's NIB price. It allowed me to move up in quality for almost no extra cost. I've tested Tasco, Bushnell, Burris, Leupold, Swarovski, and USO optics (including all 5 OEMs who offer spotting scopes)--they got nuthin' on Leica glass.
I bought the 77 having never seen one live; I trusted the reviews I read. It was the best move in "spotting optics" I ever made. The 77's ability to resolve with extreme clarity (and its' Brinks-like construction) convinced me to stay with Leica products when I bought my rangefinder.
The 1200 I have has no hardware to enable a tripod mount. That hasn't mattered to me, but it might to you if the newer Leica rangefinders don't offer a mount.

I have the Leica 900 that you are referring too. Next to the swarovski its the best there is in my opinion. It says 900 yards but I've easily hit big piles of rocks and other large targets at 1300 yards. It will easily hit deer sized targets at 500-600 yards. I've went through bushnells, Nikons, leupolds and others that dont range half of what their claimed distance is. The Leica is great. The optics are clear and fantastic also. That famous Leica lens.

Thank you for the information. I just picked one up and I don't know if I want to keep it or get rid of it. I am on the fence right now. This thing is very nice tho.

I've got the 1200 and it's the duck's nuts. I will read furry objects way out there...accurately. Anybody can pick up "reflective" at 1000, but last I checked there ain't any 'yotes running around with sparkly dreadlocks
If you'r not in a bind for cash, I'd hold on to it. You'll find that the more you use it, the more that you'll like it. I don't carry bino's any more, i just use this.

Thanks for the info. I don't need the money but I don't really have a use for this thing either. Maybe I will just use it to work on my distance estimating by eye haha.

That's my leica hanging from the sling. I don't know if you're hunting at all, but first thing I do is range a couple landmarks. That way when something jumps out and surprises me, I kinda know what distance I'm slinging lead at.
Sorry about the rest of the pic, doing some shooting from the hayloft deck and it was a little chilly!
