You can use the same press for rifle and pistol. Just buy some extra plates to make it easier. I also have a lee 4 hole turret and like it alot. I'm not sold on the auto-disk even though I have 2. Be sure to check and double check your powder loads.

had a hard time getting weights right with the charge disks.

working out alot better now still double checking loads.

I use an auto-disk for all my pistol plinking loads. For max loads I use a regular powder measure. I put a lever on my auto-disk that I can flip by hand. I don't use the progressive function on my 3 or 4 hole presses.

read, read and re read the books, check and double check. if you know someone close by who reloads ask him to mentor you. like learning to ride a bike. ask questions, never think its dumb. SAFETY first!

Sure don't want to get distracted by anything. I always shut down if someone comes in and wants to BS. Didn't do that one day about 10 years ago and ended up with 4-5 double charged cartridges.

I don't think I could use a progressive. I have to put fifty charged cases in the block and look at them with a flashlight. Just an old habit.

+1
I read and researched for a year before loading my first round. Even today when I load something for the first time, I'll look it up in 3 books and on the powder mfg's website. Just want to be sure before setting off a controlled explosion in my hand.

Yeah I'm the same way...

Can't ever be too careful....I had a bolt lock up on me today on a load...I had seen one primer blown out of an ejected case...but it did not dawn on me at the time...it was some "crap ammo" I was just shootin to get rid of...loaded another...no issue shootin...till bolt locked up...time to go see the smith

Pulled the rest and they all weighed what they should have...

This gun has a real tight palma chamber...so its possible that I had only neck sized these from being shot in another gun and not F/L sized em...

anyway...I don't care who you are....You can't ever be too carefull...I was stubborn and shot em anyway...caused me a little grief

Please be careful...something I should do better at is my record keeping...really helps when you run across one of those 3 beer reloads

Lee turret press is good for pistol/revo loading. You might find that the disks give you the charge weights you want. If not, as the OP said, Lee adj micrometer bar. Double check the charges. I have tried other brands and methods of priming, always come back to the lee auto prime pro. Even given that it's a cheap plastic toy, it still works, if you make it work.

Find a rhythm that works for you. I find that after loading 25-35 rounds, I lose concentration, so I walk away, come back a little later ready to work again.

You will make mistakes. Try to catch them before you take them to the range. Keeping records is key. If you keep records, and something seems not quite right, you can backtrack & find your error. Any doubt, pull the rounds. As others have said, safety first.

If at all possible, get a mentor.

I'll tell this story, i was loading monday afternoon, set up my beam scale and started weighing powder. did about 9 or so and had this something just didnt seem right, so i rechecked and sure nuff, i had set the scale 10gr. low. wouldnt have made too much difference in a 308, but i followed my gut and rechecked.
