Unintended Consequences of Silence
Ever since I watched that video about never talking to the police, something has been gnawing at me. What would I do, if someone broke in on me at night, and I had to use deadly force to defend myself. Now this is theoretical of course, but when the police shows up, do I just clam up and refuse to talk to the police? Anyway, it's a question that's been bugging me for awhile.
Then after reading two articles on this very subject written by the head of the Armed Citizens' Legal Defense Network, Inc., I have a much better grasp of how to handle myself (in the unlikely event that I find myself in such a scenario). I pass these articles along for your inspection.

All I can say is that gnawing feeling (that I was mentally unprepared for the aftermath and it's consequences) is gone. Not because I'm any smarter, but because I feel less stupid. =)

Re: Unintended Consequences of Silence
Thanks for the links, I also saw the video in the link a while back about not talking to the police. These sure put things in a different perspective.

Is anyone a member of the "Armed Citizens' Legal Defense Network" ? For the $85 / yr (cheaper for multiple years) membership the legal defense "insurance", a deposit fee they will pay to your atty. if you are arrested for a justified use of deadly force, makes this sound like a bargain . . . I am going to research them some more, I might join up.

Re: Unintended Consequences of Silence
This was discussed at length by Tom Givens when I went to Range Master in Memphis a few years ago.
The aftermath can be just as bad...both criminal and civil charges can be filed against you
I'll have to look up what He recommended...a similar organization
I've often pondered the thought of just sitting down with a good lawyer and discussing what would happen if the use of deadly force ever occurred...
It's on my "list" of things to do....That's the trouble...it just stays on the list...
a group meeting or forum on this would be quite enlightening...
I just don't know that many attorneys who specialize in this subject....and there's the rub

I came across the ACLDN last night when researching legal defense re: OC carry & consequences. I won't name him at this point, 'cause I'm not sure how anonymous he wants to remain, but one of our MSGO's members is on the panel list of ACLDN. So far I'm liking what I see about the organization.

Good thread and post: I'll be adding these two very good articles to my 'library' which consists of several tan envelopes filled with other articles. I especially like the part about being the reporting party- have heard this before as to helping officers determine who they may be responding to. May just help your circumstances during the whole incident.
