I agree, thanks to all that had a part in organizing this shoot! Only complaint was the HEAT! It was blazin'. Capt-03 and subgunfan I know had a big part in the match. A special thanks to them.

Heat doesn't usually bother me much, but today...arrggh. Mad

Not surprisingly, later in the day when I got things dialed-in better my shooting improved...until the very end when exhaustion took over. Went very well, had plenty of time to burn through about 500 rounds. Might consider a couple relays of "free shoots" first thing, before we shoot for score. Give us a chance to adjust zero and become familiar with the targets, etc.

Didn't take a lot of pics, either shooting or recovering in the shade most of the time. Will post a few later tonight.

Thanks to everyone there, all combined to make it a very satisfying day, but especially to Captain-03, you ARE "Da Man".

See y'all again in...November?

I agree. Cooler weather (it was MAJORLY hot today) and a free for all first for a few seconds to get AR's dialed in. Still had a lot of fun and thanks to SGF and others for helping Jill earlier when the heat got to her. She really enjoyed it after she recovered. Thanks to "Uncle Ralph", I now have a quest to find her a Sig rifle no holy sheep Funny

Big thanks to Cap for getting this all together and SGF and Ralph for helping with the shoot. Also a big thanks to everyone for making it a fun and safe shoot. Man those RO vests were hot even though they were ventilated. affraid

A Few Pictures...... and Comments

Post by SubGunFan on Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:49 pm

Most of the brave souls that said "To Hell with the Heat, I am shooting at Camp McCain". There were a few that arrived after this picture.

Captain did the Safety Meeting. But mainly he said "DON'T SHOOT Shoe and Crazy". They're not as BADASS as they appear......... Smile

2 pictures of Captain mowing down the Green Plastic Army Men.............

Before any of us could shoot today, Captain had to have the whole range to his self.

Not really.......... But this picture of Captain appears that way............... Smile

Jill (Mrs. M1GF) was the only girl brave enough to attack the targets today. This is Jill shooting Uncle Ralph's Sig 556.

And last..... (for now). Mitch's new super-duper weight gain program. Smile

I will work on the scores in the morning. I will fess-up to one of my SNAFUs today. I forgot the print the scores from Relay 5. My butt will be available for kicking soon.........................

You guys post comments and pictures.......... after you recoop from the HEAT today.

I hate I couldn't make. Especially since Joesph rushed to get my AR together. After working two 13hr shifts and getting about 4hrs of sleep in between them, I thought it wouldn't be wise. I could have made the shoot but I also had to go to Dallas (where I am now) to get the wife and kids. Seems like this is the norm for me. I miss the first event but make the next. (fingers crossed)

8:30 am and already stifling, even ran into some fog close to Camp MaCain:

No shortage of Ammo. Had a nice chat with these guys, but failed to get their names. Chime in, guys, introduce yourselves:

Hey Shoe, that picture at the table is me and my 2 guests. I'm Robert, the big guy in the blue, Scott to the left and Aaron to the right. Scott's cam was a new addition, hopefully for the next shoot we will have a rail mount for everyone to try out!

I already made a post but I will say it again - great event and great people. I still don't know names (not good at remembering them even if I'd been told them!) but a lot of new friendly faces. Great crew of guys and gals that showed up today and I'm really grateful I was able to borrow a gun and come. Me and Scott went through 1010 rds, and kept it pretty even so 5 and change/shooter is pretty good!

We discussed a free shoot early on before everyone left and I think that would be great. It took a little while to get bearings on a gun I wasn't familiar with (borrowed) so it would be nice to have had a little play time before hand. Can I put my EZ up over my fox hole next time? Smile

I will post more pictures and a link to all of them once they get loaded. Wish I could have gotten to take more but keeping cool kept me occupied pretty well.

The lone rifle:

Looks like y'all had a great time. Hate I missed it.

I probably should've worked LAST weekend, but that was the vintage bolt action match and I had a new toy to try out and........well.......you know how that goes!

That put me into a MUST work situation this weekend. Worked from 7 to 1:30 yesterday and will probably be about the same today.

Maybe I can make one of the future McCain trips.

How many folks did y'all ultimately have to show up? About 40? I know the sign-up board looked like about 40 last time I checked it.

Very Happy

I agree Capt, I wish I had snapped a picture of them outside of the hole - thought the ladder was a pretty good idea myself.

Brutus, I'm not an official but I think we had 30 or so people. We got as much shooting time as we wanted/could afford!

SGF Im glad that u didn't print relay 5. I had a may causing double feeds so I spent most of that clearing jams. Atleast I think it was relay 5.

The SCORES............... Finally

Post by SubGunFan on Sun Jun 05, 2011 8:27 pm

Sorry for being late with the scores. Another FUBAR for me by leaving the printouts in the control tower. I thought I grabbed them, but not so..... Lucky for us (me) Captain grabbed the printouts.

If you can see Relay 12, you see all the scores. If not, try increasing the width of your viewing window.
