wife gave me a 50" space to reload..the results AND LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS

Post by Tennjed on Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:51 am

I am waiting on my lee classic turret to come in but I have my reloading bench prepped. I have a smaller home and 3 kids (no garage) and the wife gave me a 50" space to reload in a spare bedroom:o Oh and an old kitchen Island. The results.

Here is what I started with:

I built a top and some shelves and added some plastic bins.

The Final Results:D

Considering I have a very hard time putting things from walmart together and haven't built anything since a last place pine car for my sons boy scouts I am kinda happy. Now if my press would just come in!

Any suggestions on what I need or could do to improve?

Thanks

Small but neat, less is more some say. Too neat, you need some empty primer boxes, Coke cans, spit bottles or something just to take up space, sorat like flare.

Sometimes you just gotta "take" what the wife "gives"

It will work....Mount that press

and get to "pressing" lol

Yes, a very good start to working in a small space.

Some suggestions............

1. Take the wheels off the cabinet, or put blocks of wood under there. You don't want the cabinet moving while reloading.

2. With 3 kids, put a lock on the main doors.

3. Depending on the mounting hole pattern of your press, you might want to slide the clamped on top piece forward.

4. Do not run your brass cleaner on the bench. The vibrations are not good for other components.

Yeah +1

Run the brass cleaner in the kitchen while the wife is i-RONing..and I-washing...like I do lol

Is that a TV screen I see to the right of the bench....2nd pic down

Just my 2 cents...but don't watch TV and reload till you get some experience...I'll run a small radio on my bench...but that's about the extent of the distractions I will allow...or I just don't load

You need to keep your mind on the task at hand....

that is about the same size set up i started on. Good info about making bench sturdy as possible. The only thing i may would maybe change would be to get rid of that cowbell evil grin

I agree with SGF, you will want to remove the wheels and definitely lock the cabinet when it's not in use.

Hmmm....can't seem to keep my reloading table neat like that. Maybe one of these days I'll get it neat and organized again.....when it's cooler outside Razz

Looks good but I couldn't get my brass as stored in .50 cans in that space. My moulds and dies would fill up the cabinet.

Thanks for the tips. The wheels are now coming off and I have a lock on the door.

I wish it wasn't so neat but the press (lee classic turret) hasn't arrived yet so I can make too big of a mess.

I will be loading for 38sp, 357mag, 45colt, and 9mm. powders I have now are unique and 2400.

Thanks again!

The press is going to block whatever is directly below it.

yeah i plan on keeping the drawer empty....hopefully I can get the cabinet doors to open. From the top of the table to the top of the cabinet doors is right at 7.5" (to the top of drawer is 2")...does anyone know how much a lee classic turret hangs down?

Thanks

I just told my wife I'm taking the front bedroom. Lol. I have come to realize putting the tumbler in the carport keeps the carpet clean. Especially since I just replaced all the carpet. Could have bought guns instead but oh well.
