D you might wanna read the fine print and see what the test weapon was siera used.. if it was a 4inch smith or a 15inch test barrel.. my open revo was built around +p pressures to make powerfactors but even then i might be a little scared to drop the hammer on one... either pull them or throw them in the garbage.. good learning mistake

Glad you asked in the forum. Those do sound like hot loads. I try and keep mine around 5% less than max. I did accidentally load some 9mm at the max load holy sheep . Those bullets were screaming when they came out of the barrel. Pretty accurate at 100 yards though Shocked

FWIW the Alliant (Unique) site lists 5.2 grains of Unique behind a 158 LWSC as a +P load.

Sounds like we need a "Reloading Party"...at the range...load em shoot em

dhollis51 one thing I always do when I'm doing a new load...

I only load 5...then shoot em....see how they feel..look for pressure signs....I've made the mistake of loading a bunch only to find out I had a problem later...

5.2 Unique might be +P on Accurates web site...My concern was He was gonna shoot these in a small snub or something...He never said...

and based upon the Sierra manual pages I saw posted...I was scared the brother was gonna head even higher..There was a 6.1 gr listed....scares the sh!t out of me.....

I'd almost recommend pitchin the Sierra manual...but I can't go that far...I know they know more than I do

Still

I'M GLAD he pulled em....

Don't be scared DHollis51....just be careful

We quit using Sierra manuals about 20 years ago. Their load for 150gr 270's using 4895(I think) was 8 grains over max of other manuals. I had a couple of pierced primers and horrible accuracy. I thought "maybe" I grabbed LP primers after dad and I checked the scales and the load against the book again. I pulled, reprimed, and reloaded using the same info. The first shot pierced a primer, and sheared the roll pin holding the cap on the M70s bolt. Left me with some burns, a bruised cheek, and a black eye. Went and bought another loading manual and saw the difference. Dad sent Sierra a letter and they responded that they don't make mistakes like that, thank you very much! Sad How did we ever make it without the net back then! So easy to check things now!

I would not advise you either way on whether to shoot them or not. My Sierra V Edition page 756 shows the same load 5.0 to 6.1 BUT this is for the Sierra JSP or the Sierra JHC which is a .357 diameter bullet seated to a depth of1.450 C.O.A.L.. On page 762 it shows the .357 Magnum load as 7.7 - 8.2 using the same bullets but the C.O.A.L. is 1.585. So, in effect, my book is showing the same as your book which doesn't mean anything because it could be misprints in both books. When in doubt, pull'em and start over at a reduced load.
