Barrel Threading

Post by 22lrfan on Thu Jun 30, 2011 10:48 pm

Does anyone know what is the cheapest place in the Jackson area to get a barrel threaded? I'm looking at 5/8"x24.

Billie tierce is an option if Alton can't do it. Depending on the gun he usually charges between 40 to 60 to thread a gun.

If it is already the correct OD, just do it yourself. I did my Saiga in about an hour, resold the tools and was out about $15, when it was all said and done. Now if you need it turned down go the pro route.

Alton's price ?

check out their work order form here

http://1000yardhunter.com/order_form

Billy Tierce near Utica is also quite good...no argument there

Thomas Bullock at Surplus City Gun range is also a fine gunsmith

Alton's work order doesn't mention threading, just doing his custom muzzle brake.

I had Billy thread a Lone Wolf 10mm barrel last year and he charged me $75. Alton sounds like a better deal since he includes a thread protector. Where is he located in Brandon?

right off 471 behind Gary's Carpet. right before the shell station there is a road on the right you turn there and back behind the buildings.

103 Brooks Dr...Tufpac

$80 might sound a little high until u consider rifle has to be disassembled, barrel threaded, make thread protector and reassemble

I'm having a Savage 93 in 17HMR done right now....

Besides....He is in Brandon...and a couple runs to Billy's near Utica burns valuable gun $

BTW Mods - This thread should be under gunsmithing.....IMHO

Billy and Thomas are real good if they are backed up with work give me a call if you dissamble and reassemble will be cheaper usually takes longer to break down and put back together than to thread with my cnc lathe very easy and accurate . And to all who have talked well of me I thank you

I'll call you next week. I can do everything except pull the barrel out of the receiver.
