Neat gun and perfect for kids and little female women.
Prolly not the best thing for buffalo but around these parts it'd be fine.

Yeah that looks neat. I'll bet it kicks more that you would think.

If it don't kick more than a .357 Timberwolf, it shouldn't be bad...it's pretty light. Don't remember weight on it though.

Re: Ruger's new 357.
The 77/44 is 5.5 lbs. The 357 is about the same. They are nice little guns. There's a 44 in my future. Either one would make a great knock around / brush gun.
It still amazes me what happens to a pistol caliber when it has 10 or 12 more inches of barrel to get moving.

It's an interesting rifle, didn't know Ruger made a 77/44 either, think I would like that more.

I'm with neck. Love the m77, and love 357 but not sure the two belong together. I'd rather have the harder hittin 44 myself. If I had the 357 it would have to be in the marlin or henry.
Sid the ruger is probably gonna be similar price to the 77/44, about $650 if I had to guess.

Amazingly, Ruger designed the M77/22 action, or over engineered it so well that they
have been able to chamber it in .44Magnum, .22 Hornet and now the .357 Magnum,
though of late i think they've finally gone to a threaded barrel as opposed to the pinned
variety of the 10/22 but I've never seen one of the newer ones my 77/22 is pinned and
shoots far better than me to be honest. Oh yes, can't forget the .22Magnum.

Never see a 77/22 with a pinned barrel (or a 10/22 either), everyone I have ever seen is held on with a wedge and bolt just like the 10/22. Have seen people use the 77/22 barrel on a 10/22. The 77/22 in 22 Hornet does have a threaded barrel and reciever.

Bubba, you are quite correct, the barrels on the non threaded M77/XX models are held on
via a wedge beneath the barrel with two bolts holding the wedge to an extension on the
lower front of the receiver, I must have been half brain dead to say pinned. And I did forget
the M77/17 as well but tend not to pay attention to the various 17 calibers due to the
hugely high cost of the ammunition even though I know they are uber accurate little
beasties.

Remember when using a 77/22 barrel on a 10/22 , you must use the appropriate size spacer to mount the barrel with.
The 77/44 or the 77/357 would be a interesting rifle if not so expensive.

Re: Ruger's new 357.
I just looked at one of these at Philly gun and pawn. It is a neat little gun and even though I don't need it at all there may be one in my future. I have two 1894 marlin lever guns and they are a blast to shoot. I have a 686 S&W as well. I'm starting to combine calibers just so I don't have a lot of different calibers around so it will probably be the 357 over the 44 for me. The price on the one I looked at was 619.99. I've never got them to haggle very much but that is a decent price comparred to some of their stuff.
