Zeroing Some Handguns This Morning (7-2-11) w/ Bubba-T & D-51

Post by SubGunFan on Sat Jul 02, 2011 3:12 pm

I arrived at Magnolia this morning at 7:30 and the temperature felt good (not as muggy as lately). Was meeting D-51 and Bubba-T there. Didn't see either one when I arrived, so I setup and started zeroing some handguns.

My simple setup was a target at 10yds and a rest.

The first 2 guns were my 6" S&W 29 and 4" S&W K-38. I have shot both "new" guns a few times, but not on paper....

Group 1 (4 shots toughing) was with the 29. Group 2 after a sight adjustment, and Group 3 after another sight adjustment. My 29 has Millet rear sights that have an "array" of white lines. I HATE those white lines because I can't see a clear sight pictures. Not sure how Group 1 came out so well......

Groups 4, 5 & 6 were zeroing my S&W K-38 using S&B factory ammo. While the back sight is fine, the red ramp front sight is hard to see clearly. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it............ Smile Group 7 is factory reloaded wadcutter ammo.

Next was my Glock 21. While the Glock has good clear sights, I still don't like the trigger feel. My G21 has adjustable rear sights, but only for elevation. I still had to drift the sight for windage. The lower right group is 4rds of my cast lead bullet reloads. The G21 is accurate with lead bullets which I LIKE......

Then came my "No. 1" CZ-83 (380 Auto). Top group is before sight adjustment. Can't change elevation on the CZ-83.

Then CZ-83 "No. 2". This is the one I bought from Neck this week. Top group is before adjustment.

NOTE to Neck: Your old CZ-83 shoots fine. You had a bad mag that caused those jams. That mag caused jams in my 83. I think the lips or follower are bad on that mag.

Just ask these 2 guys............ Smile D-51 and Bubba-T going at it with my two CZ-83s. NOTE: I have a video of this to be posted later.

This is the setup for a "special" video I will post later. The video did come out nice....... Smile

Now for some pictures of Magnolia's new range improvements work done this past week..............................

The open gap between the Center Range and the "dead area" of the West 50/100 Range is now closed. The contractor even placed straw fabric on the berm (which looks good). Grass seeding will come later when more rain is forecasted...................... My fingers & toes are crossed for RAIN..... Smile

The new dirt in the area of the long range firing line expansion. Now it is time to get that Magnolia member busy building the cover......

The improved parking area at the East-50 and East-100 Ranges. Notice how the contractor brought the red clay gravel up to the concrete slabs. Nice work.

I will work on editing the videos and get them post here later today.....................

Will have to wait a bit, he's gathering stuff for my 16" upper ( old school with triangle fore end and carry handle ) Smile After I see the damage to my checkbook, I'll get him to check it out. Shall I make you jealous with the dealer cost? lol
