ok with setting the date tenatively for aug6 i need a who all is free for that weekend. if we have 5 or more guys that wanna go we will plan on this weekend for sure. if we cant we will look into a weekend in sept befor bow season starts for our getaway.

As I understand it, this is the same hunt -- only one going on for now.

I should be a GO for Aug 6th ... Going to be HOT in east TX in August; however, I believe it may be worth it!!

in no way could i do 2 hunts i am still figuring out this one. i only started another one to have a for sure on the date.

What calibers are we down to? Looking for a .223. Would take a 30/30 or 12 for hogs if that is allowed.

I'd like to know 3 or 4 things

1. Leave date time...Is departure on the 6th or 5th...I don't know how far a drive it is...we gonna have to book a few rooms somewhere. ? Where is that somewhere?

2. Caliber restrictions....or what will be allowed...Sounded like 22s, 17s and 223s...the rest stay home ?

3. Acreage we are gonna be allowed to shoot on...I seem to recall it being limited to a 75 acre plot.

I'm going to shoot doggies...not hogs, fish etc...I got 2 or 3 bass ponds I don't fish in now as it is

as of now i would lke to leave friday afternoon. befor 2 would be great.

i will take care of reserving hotel when it gets closer and i know how many rooms we will need for sure. i hope everyone is ok with a place like the holiday inn or the new ramada inn limited. they aint a 5 star resort but i aint a 5 star kinda guy either.

as far as calibers go lets cap it at a 223.if ya wanna try your ar out of a 22-250. thats plenty of firepower for what we are gonna do.
truthfully a 22 or 17 would be plenty.

as far as acerage i would guess in the 50 acer range for what i have in mind and another 15 or 20 in hilly land. witch with it being 5 maybe 6 of us that is plenty of land.

as far as getting there i am willing to take my QUAD CAB truck and i talked to neck earlier he is up for taking his as well. i am also willing to get a small uhaul enclosed trailer to put all our gear in. i do not have a shell or tuno cover on my truck. so i am willing to pull a small trailor.

yeah wally world in town. if we leave by 2 we will be there around 6 630 at latest. we would have plenty of time to pop in and get a 5 day license. i searched online but i am positive we cannot buy them unless in person.

I am thinking (based on what has been said) that a 100yds radius will cover a lot of p-dogs. Also, I think much pass 100yds with a 22RF is pissing in the wind..............

you can get the 200yd shot if ya wanna try with the 223 but thats a far fetch tryin to scan the area and see one that far off. it can be done just not my deal.

i talked to a dept wildlife official and he said we needed them so i am just going of the game wardens word. if i was going alone i wouldnt worry about getting one but with a group going i think its cheap insurance myself.

if its just us 5 i may have our transportation taken care of as well. i have been offered the use of a 9 passanger conversion van. it would be plenty of room for us and all gear we wanna carry.
