Ruger LC9
Picked up one of these Saturday at Academy. 200 rounds of wwb with no issues so far. The trigger is very long but seems smooth. Its gonna take a little time to master. Gonna put some more assorted fmj through it and then start running through some sd ammo. Anyone else have experience with this gun? The only complaint so far is that it only comes with one mag and extra mags are pricey.

Nice, what are those running at Academy if you don't mind me asking?

I handled one, really liked it. Didn't shoot it but it had a good feel. See one at the right price I might grab on to it.

Re: Ruger LC9
Finally got a chance to take mine to the range today and had similar experiences as you. Like you, that Academy deal was hard to pass up, especially considering Bud's is asking $389 and if a dealer around here gets hold of one, they seem to command $400 or $425. And, yes, the mag prices are tough, too. Wound up getting one with the extension from ShopRuger for about $40 shipped. Ouch!
Shot 100 rounds of Federal FMJs and 20 124gr +P Golden Sabers through mine today without any hiccups at all. Trigger is long and will take some getting used to, but I do find it superior to most of the other pocket guns out there in that it is smooth all the way through. I had problems with accuracy due to trying to anticipate the break, but no worse than with any of the other mouse guns out there. I think I can get used to it with practice. I know it was me flinching, because when I concentrated, the gun was right on target. Shame I couldn't find any consistency in my shooting.
I will say this, though. I like this gun a lot more than I did the PF9 I owned. That one was a punishing brute and this one isn't. Can't say it's a pleasant range shooter, but it's not at all unpleasant or abusive. The extra 3 or so ounces make a big difference in the way it handles. So far, my only complaint is that it's just a little too large for a true pocket pistol. Not much and would probably work just fine in tactical or carpenter shorts, but it's just a little too bulky for my tight blue jean shorts. It'll fit in my pocket and come out easily enough, but it sags and prints a little too much for comfort. I think it might be better suited for a thin IWB holster.
Didn't find any displeasure with any of the safety devices, but will probably remove the mag safety at some point in time. Even though I'll probably never shoot as well with this one as I do with my SR9c, I do think both guns have equal quality and perform pretty well out of the box. Neither of mine has ever suffered a single jam or misfire, which is a nice quality to have in a mid priced gun. It won't replace any of my other guns, but it will have its own place. Don't regret buying it at all.

Re: Ruger LC9
Hey thanks for the info Hrdnox. I am actually glad to read that you favor it over a pf9. When this gun came out priced at 389, I said that there was no way I would pay over 150$ more for a gun so similar to the PF9. You are exactly right about it being very shootable. I expected to get tired of shooting it around 25 rounds or so, but both times out with were 100 rounds sessions.
Its not really a pocket gun, but will disappear in an iwb holster.
When I saw the opportunity to get one for 334 at academy, I thought about how impressed I was with the sr9c and the sr40 that I have and had to add it to the Ruger collection.

I'm sure thinking about getting one. I need something slim but bigger than my 380 pocket gun. I was leaning toward the Sig P239, but it is still a little chunky compared to the LC9.

I'm waiting on Hrdknox to sell his and he will eventually. Trading must be in his bloodline. Good guy to do business with (Rick, I didn't put my dibs on first pick on it when I got that buckmark so I'm making it official).

334 is a good price, I wanted one but have spent way too much on guns & gear lately.

Same here. Actually caught myself a couple of times. Been thinking about it and wondering if a trigger cover like they make for the Ruger 10/22s might help. Mine breaks all the way back and that seems like an eighth or possibly even a quarter inch too far back. I know part of it was breaking in a new gun, but it did get a little annoying after a while. Some folks put a piece of poly tubing on the triggers of PF9s to help keep them from biting so badly and that seemed to change the percieved break point on them. Might be something to experiment with on these.
One other thing I noticed with mine that may have also been due to shaking down a new gun, but my hand did fatugue and start hurting a little bit after 40 or 50 rounds. All together different than the PF9, though. It hurt and actually bruised my hand after about 20 rounds. None of that here, but the back of my hand near my wrist was getting fatigued and letting me know this gun does have a healthy recoil, even though it wasn't percieved. Nothing that made want to put it down, but noticeable, just the same. I do have a tendancy to put a death grip on these little guns, so it may have just been a combination of arthritis and excercising muscles in my grip that I haven't used lately, because the recoil really didn't seem that significant to me. I would think most experienced women would find the recoil on one of these more than acceptable.
Just finished cleaning mine and was very pleased at the lack of wear I found and these things run so much cleaner than the little .380s. Hard to believe there would be that much difference in the powders, but apparently there is. Wear would be easy to spot on these, since everything inside is blued and all of it still is on mine. The rails aren't even showing much in the way of break in wear, so I'm taking that as a positive sign. The two SR9cs I've had were very tightly strung, but this one seems a little looser and smoother operating.
Anyways, sounds like you've gotten a good one and I hope mine proves to be, as well. I'd say yours is pretty well broken in now and ready for the SD ammo test. Mine didn't seem to mind the +P Golden Sabers at all. Cycled them about the same as it did the FMJ target ammo. Didn't notice too much of a change in the recoil with the +Ps, either, which was a little surprising, because I notice a marked difference with them in most of my other guns.
Wanted to ask if you shoot yours with the flat base plate on the mag and how does it handle with a 2 finger grip? I have both base plates for both of my mags, but have only shot with the pinky extension. This gun would be a lot more pocket worthy with the flat plate, for sure. With a pocket holster, the extended baseplate seems to be the thing that prints the worst. Figured on trying mine with the flat, but thought I'd ask about yours first.

Ditto on the wear part. I have virtually none on my rails either. My slide fits loose on the frame. Not to the point of being sloppy, but I noticed it.
I haven't shot with the flat mag plate yet. I will probably give it a whirl tomorrow. Took my M&P out for a spin this evening, I swear I get tired of it's recoil before the lc9's

Thinking of one for a motorcycle carry. Any thoughts if it would work?

I know the little 380's work well for pocket or vest carry on a bike. The LC9 looks to be a little large for pockets (other than cargo pockets) and you'd probably have to carry IWB or get a large pocket sewn inside your vest (unless you have one of those carry vests).

What this a compact or fullsize M&P? I like the single stack LC9, but the M&P9C holds more rounds...any thoughts? I like the finger extension on the LC9, and shooting without it may make me swing a different way.

Re: Ruger LC9
My uncle recently bought one, and I fondled it a good bit today.
His was awkward to rack the slide, felt really rough. And I didnt like the mag disconnect "safety" or the awkward thumb safety.
But I LOVE the size and feel of the pistol. Wouldn't mind one except for the mag prices.
I'll wait a couple years
