308 projectiles?

Post by sigma74216 on Fri Jul 15, 2011 10:38 am

What are you all using for hunting and also long range shooting in your 308 loads?
Thanks.

For over 20 years now I've used, and have had good luck with, Remington 150gr Core-Lokt PSP handloads. I've killed white tails in several states, mule deer and antelope in Wy, and various critters in various states. I've used the same rifle, same scope, and same load for 26 years. I know it's not the latest and greatest ultra cool expensive bullet, but dead is dead.

I'm cool with Core-Lokt. What kind of range and group are you getting from your load?

I use the 150gr and 165gr Nosler Accubond and only killed 1deer with the 150 & it did a great job on the 7pt I got with it. at 100 yards its almost the same hole and the 165 is a tad bit bigger, and that is what me and my reloader got last year so now that I got my bench set uo im gonna try some different powders and all the goodies to get it together. at 200 I shot 1 3shot group and it was a lil over an inch. I know several people who shoot the accubond from 270 to 375 and all of them swear by them for deer hunting

Not yet. Should have gotten all that before I dropped the coin for the rifle. Oh well. That's why they sell factory ammo.
Ihave access to a couple reloading presses just have to get some supplies. I can ask one guy he's pretty good just need some info to get started. Guess I'll go get me some books.

I've had excellent success with the 165 Game King. A little old fashioned, but works just fine and is very accurate. I like Core-Lokt as well in other rifles, but my .308 doesn't like them.
