handgun purchase minimum age

The legal minimum age to purchase a handgun in the state Mississippi through a private transaction is 18.
The federal law says the same, 18 or older for any firearm purchase through a private transaction.
There is a federal firearm law that makes the minimum age for a ffl dealer to sell a handgun 21 or over.
There is no federal or state law that says you have to be over 21 to own a handgun.

I have been told many times that you must be 21 to buy handguns through private transactions and that you must be 21 to own a handgun and i am tired of arguing about it if someone can prove me wrong on this please send me reference to the law.

and yes i know that you must be 21 to get a firearms permit in Ms but that doesn't mean i cant carry in my home on my property in any motor vehicle my place of business or when engaged in a legit firearms related sport activity.

i have the same problem man. people dont want to sell to me because im not 21

Same issue here, i have owned one for comp since i was 16 and bought my first through private sale at 18 from my cousin... my biggest problem is people saying i can't have it in my vehicle when i read the law to say i can

yes the Youth Handgun Safety act 1994 applies for those under 18
and federal law prohibits ffl dealer from selling handguns to those under 21 but what im referring to in this post is private transactions

Then say what you are referring to up front...Not editing it after the fact....I aint a mind reader

I still wont sell anyone under the age of 21 a handgun (even in a private transaction)...that's MY rule

and weather or not you decide to sell to someone under 21 is up to you, you can refuse a sell to who ever you want
