How often do you do it for .22 lr and .22 mag?

Currently testing my Kimber. Every match is too often. I'm thinking 3 matches, but I'll post back with "conclusive" evidence.

most of us grew up cleaning them every time we shot them and before we put it back in the gun rack, now some people say every 5000 rounds so who knows. but I am interested in jbp's findings

I don't know about everybody else but in my CZ 452 (fine .22 i might add) that right after i clean it the groups are around an 1" at 60 yards but the dirtier it gets as i shoot it the grips will tighten up. today i was at 70 yards and shooting groups with my Varmit (did i mention these were excellent shooters) and i could get less than dime sized groups, if i did my part. So i will wipe exterior down and not clean bore for awhile.

p.s. disregard statements concerning CZ accuracy. I will try to buy them all so ya'll won;t have to waste your money on them

Too late, I got one that I'm just getting broken in...

I'm not getting dime sized groups yet, best so far is a 10 shot group in an inch & a half at 100yds.

You should come try 22RF F-Class with us at Starkville. If you're interested, email me.

Since my last post, I was having first shot cold bore flyers and have done some research on it. I discovered, with mine anyway, that if i clean the chamber right after i get through shooting while it's still warm, my accuracy is still there and don't have the flyers. I think the chamber should be cleaned but don't have to detail clean it. I clean it with either PB blaster or Copperzilla with bronze and nylon brush, then with dry patch. Has been working so far.

With recent experience, my OPINION currently rests at 2 matches being optimal. This would equate to ABOUT 150 rounds down the barrel.

My current RIMFIRE cleaning regimen is very simple. With a rod guide, coated rod and piercing jag, I push a couple of wet patches of Kroil. Let that loosen the lead slivers and powder fowling, then dry patches if firing next day or soon. If not shooting for a while, I let the barrel keep the Kroil. I cannot stand the thought of the fouling residue of an uncleaned barrel hygroscopically attracting moisture/humidity and rusting (but maybe I worry too much). I generally treat my target rifles like they were blackpowder. Before I shoot again, I will push 1 or 2 patches of Hoppe #9 then a couple of dry patches through. The first couple of shots downrange go in the dirt/berm, then when I am through with sighters, I am comfortable going for record fire. After the first few shots, I have never been able to blame the rifle for shots off call. Then I don't clean for the rest of the day. I know this is different from what a lot of others do, but that has always worked for me.
Now, squirrel rifles don't have the luxury of sighters, etc. I have left them as sighted in for the period of a couple of weeks of season (but I must admit that I don't like it). I have never had a problem, but I oil as soon as I know I'm not going to use it again that season.
BUT, if you get caught in a drizzling rain while hunting or in a match, you must continue to fire until completed, then immediately go for the complete strip down, stock off, dry, clean, lubricate, etc. Failure to do this WILL result in RUST. Good Shooting to all.

That is basically what I do. One wet patch and two dry patches after a shoot. Takes about 3 shots to get back one target. That is with a lapped barrel. I believe an unlapped barrel takes more shots to get back on target.
