Marlin's 1st .22 Auto

In 1931 Marlin decided to introduce their first .22 auto. What they came up with was the Model 50 that had a 7-rd magazine and fired from an open bolt. It was only produced from '31 to '35 before being replaced by a similar model that fired from a closed bolt. The Model 50E was the same gun with a factory peep sight. They continued the tradition of providing both models for Sears. These were called the Ranger Model 34. Mine is one of the Ranger models with the factory peep sight. Total production for all models was around 5000.

Just that it was made between '31 and '35. I've heard that there were several design changes. I just ordered Brophy's book on Marlins. It's supposed to be "the book" about everything Marlin. I hope it tells about the design changes.
