Help Best holster for best Concealment
I have been looking at a Pancake Holster and a Check Six and have been wondering which will leave less of a print. I live in Mississippi and they look for those things too. I have a IWB but I would like an Outside carry for more comfort with best concealment. I would love all the feedback I can get. Since I am ordering it her's some specs so you will have an idea of the size of my XD and which size holster to get. I am wanting to order the best concealment one soon as I can.
Thanks
Specs for my Sprinfield Armory XD 45 ACP.
Barrel: 4" Steel,Melonite,Fully Supported Ramp
Overall Length of pistol: 7.3"
Overall Height: 5.75"

A lot of things to consider. What size guy are you? How do you normally dress? If you want to carry outside the waistband then I'm assuming you wear a jacket or untucked shirt all the time.
IWB is the best to me for concealment. That's a pretty good size gun to hide outside. What holster did you try IWB?

Re: Help Best holster for best Concealment
I carry OWB exclusively. I have tried many, many rigs for many, many guns over the years. In my opinion, as someone who has carried a gun professionally for 20 years...when it comes to holsters, you get what you pay for!
Most of my holsters are: Alessi; Rosen; DelFatti; TT Gunleather; and Kramer. I have a few other custom rigs from other makers. If you are going to spend a lot of money on a firearm to protect yourself and your loved ones, don't skimp on your holster.
Just my opinion,
Gonzo

Re: Help Best holster for best Concealment
i agree with both posters above. an XD45 in an OWB holster isn't going to be the best bet for concealment. however, i often carry my full size 1911 in a pancake holster form eric adams of adams leatherworks. it conceals fairly well under a button-up shirt, but t-shirts and polos aren't quite as easy to pull off. i wasn't planning on carrying IWB either, but my isotope7 holster changed that. it hides the gun perfectly under most everything i wear and it's very comfortable. the one thing i don't think has been mentioned is that a good gun belt will make all the difference in how well the holster works. whatever holster you go with, make sure you get a good reinforced or double layered gun belt.

Excellent point! Don't get a great holster and then skimp on the belt. Hoster and belt are both just as important.

Re: Help Best holster for best Concealment
I am a pretty big built guy mostly wears T-Shirts type shirts. My IWB is from the Holster Store. I got the Pro Carry HD Springfield XD 45 4.5 Inch. On a 1 1/2" Blackhawk reinforced gun belt. It works great but I guess it takes getting used to with IWB holsters. I never tuck my shirts in and get big sized shirts like 3x to 4x sizes. The reason I am asking is I saw a Pancake and Check six on a reinforced gun belt and it looked like the pulled in pretty close to your body plus I like the angle the pistol was. It looked like a better draw. I don't skimp on the price for a holster lol I also have a 2'' for OWB very reinforced. I am happy with my IWB but looking for a comfortable OWB and it is a good sized gun to hide. But the Pancake and Check Six also comes in IWB and like I mentioned I like the draw it has. Thanks for the response. I am 6ft1 and around 270 pounds so I guess that's my downfall lol. Thanks

Re: Help Best holster for best Concealment
actually, being big is a plus for concealing a handgun. the larger the silhouette, the less chance of printing. i'm 6'3"/250lb and i can hide a full sized gun much easier than my 5'8" 160lb brother.
if you like the check six, get it and try it. i just don't care for the flat back designs and prefer the pancake. FWIW, if you like the more forward cant of the check six, i'd suggest getting a DM Bullard bodyguard. they actually have one in stock for your gun right now. look at it here. they also have matching belts in stock.
