Can't say on the price but it is a good looking pistol and should hold it's value. Guess you have to get the moon clips. Be fun to shoot but 30 carbine ain't a home defense weapon but I'm sure that ain't your point. Had a friend with an AMT in 30 Carbine he loved for shooting snakes and such up the river.

Yes I had a 3 screw model. It was the loudest handgun I ever fired. I had a friend at the range who was in a mobile home (20 yards away from the firing line) and wearing earplugs. The noise was hurting his ears when the .30 was fired. I would rather have had a .45 Colt Blackhawk.

I bought Doug's 30 Carbine Blackhawk and have only shot it twice. I didn't notice it being louder than normal. The only issues I have noticed on this one is...... Sometimes it won't fire LC-72 primers and the cases stick in the chamber. The recoil is not bad at all.

SGF,
The revolver I was referring to was bought by me in the 1970's. not the one bought by you. I never fired the one I sold you.

I have shot a couple of them ... I liked it .... never thought much of the 30 carbine in a pistol ... 45LC or 44mag are the calibers for this gun, IMHO ... the 30 cal ammo goes in the M1 Carbine!!

Doesn't use moon clips but headspaces on the case lip. It is very loud and they are hard to find now.

Had one of these back in the 70's. Very loud and sweet shooting gun. Would love to shoot it a night, looked like a flame thrower, very cool.

Re: Ruger Old Model Blackhawk 30 carbine 3 screw
Back in about 1971 or 1972 when I first belonged to Magnolia, a
friend of mine bought one with the 7 1/2" barrel as i recall, at
the old Ralph Burke's reloading supply shop on Terry Road for the
princely sum of $40 used with no visible wear and we took it out
to the Magnolia range to test fire it, it was early winter and got dark
fast and we shot it right up to sundown, loudest thing I ever shot
too, low recoil and dead accurate with mil surp US ammo. I made just ONE mistake, I turned my back on my friend under the tin
roofed shed to begin packing up to leave and he shot the last round he had while I had one side of my muffs off one ear halfway
assuming, IN ERROR, that he was done. My ears rang for what felt
like forever, hurt too like a hot knitting needle through the eardrum and the muzzle flame/blast looked like the size of an orange watermelon. Great gun though.
That price SEEMS reasonable these days, the 3 screws are in great demand with
Ruger collectors but you might look at www.rugerforum.com or www.rugerforum.net
to see if the folks there agree that the price is fair, but some of them might just
out bid you on this one so be careful if you really want this specimen.
