I agree. Was at a shop in columbus recently. Seems like he said when they have em they sell for around 650ish. No way I'd pay a grand. Msrp is what, 800?

Good luck with that. Our cost as a FFL is over $1k.

Sounds like you need a new wholesaler.

Wait till they hit the market??? Do some searches. Look on Rugerforum. They have hit the market and that is the wholesale price. If you are a decent dealer, you get them before they hit the catalog. Sports South salespeople get them and they go to their best customers first. Before they hit the catalog and show stock.

Here is an example:

$668 OTD, and Heliman is as good a guy to deal with as any. I have bought 2 OM's from him on the forum.

Heck, here is a whole section dedicated to them

And that price shown is actually higher than you the dealer have to pay. With Sports South, if you add up your invoices and send them a check every 2 weeks, you deduct 5%.

It sucks the way some dealer try to screw the public's eyes out. Show your customer what it costs. Add your profit and sales tax. PROFIT is not an ugly word. Show me the invoice and add 20% and let me pay you. Don't blow smoke up my a** about the price. If you are higher than anyone else, at least be honest about it.

The gun business is booming. Us nutjobs that spend a lot of time on the net spend an obscene amount with our dealers. We are never happy with one long either, so trade a bit too and you have more business than you can stand. Remember 3 fast nickels beats a slow dime every time.

And some of us are such good customers that we call and say order me a 76601 and call me when it comes in. We don't even ask what it costs, so you don't mind letting us log into your account.

I show every customer what we pay and I do our 15% and tell them their price. I have only been working there a short time and I have sold quite a few guns. I don't screw with the customers because after all, they are keeping you in business. If you don't like my price you can go down the road and deal with people that just want to take your money and not deal with you anymore, I will at least BS with ya and help you as much as I can. I was wrong about the price on this Ruger, so sue me. I was confused with something else. Also, I'm not totally up to speed on every rifle and handgun in the world, I know quite a few but I will get stumped every now and then especially when people come in wanting odd-ball things.

This happens when folks just HAVE to have one of the 1st of anything...that's why I wait till somethings been in consumers hands for at least a year. Get to read feedback, and price ain't high as a cat's back.

Never be the first or last to buy anything. Jimmy you have to have 2 dozen or more 1911's anyway.

I guess I gave up too soon, I thought the thread had died lol . Oh well, I just blew over $600 on an air rifle, I'll have to save up my pennies to get this when it finally becomes available.

At least the new Ruger 1911 is an all steel gun unlike the pitiful half plastic pieces of junk
they have been busy turning out in recent years. I bet the demand got even Ruger's CEO's
attention. Any new or highly in demand model such as the S&W M29 .44 Mag back when the
Dirty Harry movies made every wannabe nutjob just HAVE to have one dried the supply of
those up like the Sahara, especially in the longer barrel lengths but even in the 4 inch. I had
wanted one long before the movies came out from reading too much Elmer Keith and Skeeter
Skelton among others and paid full list price as a DEPOSIT on whatever length model I could
get in blue, expecting to pay a dealer premium above and beyond the MSRP at the old Hunt
& Whitaker store in the Jackson Mall and got in line and months went by with no M29 in sight
when I found out that the store manager there since Hunt's was a stocking dealer for S&W
was getting all he could handle just for the asking, but what he would do is call several of his
fishing buddies to come in and he'd sell them all he had at list so they could go scalp the
guns at gun shows, I ultimately went back to Hunt's and demanded my full price deposit back
or I'd call the cops on him, and it still took a month to get my refund.
