Nah....it was either an ak47, high powered rifle(.22 or .17) or a Glock 40(because we are all familiar with that model right!?)

Big no-no? Ummmmm yep! Unless you have X amount of acres with no surrounding neighbors for X amount of yards......it varies depending on state and city you live in. I'm not familiar with the(if any) Mississippi law regarding this because I've never lived in city limits, except during my time in the Hattiesburger, where I lived in the avenues and was way too close to my neighbors to even consider it.

Obviously there are certain allowances to be made if its in self defense and what not

I think the Ms. law says 50 acres for rifles and 10 acres for shot gun not sure how far you have to be from closest residence but either way never heard of it being a felony

I got in deep for this exact thing in NC. It was the DAY I got back from Kuwait in 2009 and the house 2 down from fed feral cats so there was at least 40 of them roaming around, walking on the cars and the worst being hissing at my kids. My kids stayed away but when the cat hides in the bushes and will charge a 3 year old kid it gets kinda annoying. So I took my brand new .22 Mossberg and shot a cat about 4 times, but since I didn't get a good enough shot it ran back to that house and died at the lady's feet apparently. So being the nutjob she was she called the cops and was saying the kids in between our houses were shooting cats out of their truck window over the fence (8ft) that were in her yard. Anyway, in the middle of this I walked over and confessed and said why, how and where I did it. I got nailed for animal cruelty and discharge of a firearm within 500ft of a dwelling. This was out in the county tho, Maysville, NC. I went into court a few weeks later and the judge laughed, dropped the animal cruelty charges and gave me a $25 fine and court fees. It was a headache.

I'm figuring to have taken a cat off of a porch without hitting anything else around, it had to be a Barrett 99 sniper rifle chambered in .22short shooting tracer rounds.
