Thinking of Becoming a Lead Bullet Reseller - THOUGHTS

Post by bsdubois00 on Thu Jul 28, 2011 6:00 pm

Hey guys,

As some of you know I'm very active still with my Oklahoma Shooting Forum - well we have been looking at ways to provider our users with a great option for Lead Bullets and have come across a great business relationship with a known lead bullet caster. My thoughts are to stock about 60-80 cases of various calibers at my house to bring to local matches and for pick up - as well as have an online store to purchase the calibers that I do not carry. Below is what we currently have worked up as far as pricing goes - nothing is set in stone yet but my question is - at the price listed below (per case) would you buy bullets locally?

9mm 125gr RN - 54.50 / case
9mm 147gr FP - 57.00 / case
.40/10mm 175gr SWC - 67.00 / case
.40/10mm 180gr FP - 68.00 / case
.45ACP 200gr SWC - 68.50 / case
.45ACP 230gr RN - 72.50 / case

Right now I can get .40 165gn lead for $60/1000 so if you are close to that plus shipping down to Gulfport I would buy from ya.

With my estimates it will be about 80 cases - I can carry 2 cases at a time - figure find a friend who can do the same - just 20 trips and we can knock it out :-D

I am confused ( not hard to do to me) This is for complete ammo or just the lead bullet? I am assuming by the price its just the lead bullet. Last question any plans on .38/.357 .. I know they have dropped in popularity...but thats what I shoot.

It is actual lead bullets only - not loaded ammo.

.38 / .357 130grain RNFP would be $55.50

You better get your act together with the department of revenue (new name for the state tax commission) first. I went through a state sales tax audit once. I'll spare you the details, but my attorney said, "...the state is very efficient at getting its money". Take that to the bank.

Are these matts bullets? I would drop the 130gr 38 in favor of a heavy bullet like the 160 super bullet sized .358

I did a similar thing a few years ago. Hornady had a special drop shipment deal on swaged and jacketed bullets. Our club put out a notice and they were delivered to my house. I wound up with $12,000 worth of bullets in my bedroom. I also wound up with over 100 guys coming to the house to pick up their bullets. I almost got a divorce over this one. Doing such a project out of your home can be a BITC*.

I would personally never do this again.

I'd buy a box or two of the .45's but 2000 would last me years.
