New here, but wanted to spread the word on this

There is a Georgia fellow who is currently working in Olive Branch and has found himself in a bit of a conundrum. Evidently he got arrested for "Disturbing the Peace" in Olive Branch while OC'ing on the word of a drunk patron in a hotel. I tried to post a link, but I can't (I'm sure it's because I'm new on the board). Apparently, the GA guys have set up a fund for the guy to help with legal fees (he was arrested for OC in Olive Branch after a drunk made a false complaint; he's staying in Olive Branch for work and to get the legal crap cleared up). I can't afford a donation to help him, but I'll definitely send some prayers his way.

Working my way through the story. I'm 20 minutes from there so I might be able to help with logistics if needed. Don't know any of the LEO up there, but will put out some feelers.

CntrySngr, gunluvinatty or 2ALawyer are guys he'll want to contact if he's not already gotten representation. Both are 2A friendly attorneys that frequent this board.

Gunluvinatty is in Oxford I believe, not TOO far from Olive Branch. 2ALawyer is in central MS. He/you should be able to contact either through this board's message system.

Over on AR15.com forum there is a super MS attorney who goes by Nolocontendere.

He is getting to be well known.

I thought he was on this forum but I don't see him.

He has been on GlockTalk at one time and may still be.

He would be a good person to contact.

He lives in the Jackson area.

I read it over breakfast. Crazy story I'm glad he's going to stand up for his rights and not just pay the money like so many others. This is an embarrassment to MS and should be to law enforcement.
I'll be sending a contribution. We (msgo) should pool our money in the name of the site I would like to think if this happened to one of our members while visiting another state, we would do the same.

Read through it all and although he has charged, he was not charged with any firearms offense. Quote for the victim, "I'm here!!!! Thanks for the concern. They looked and looked and looked for OC laws because they wanted to charge me with it, but the officer said it was so muddy he was giving me the benefit of the doubt. These damn people came to my hotel with their guns out and proceeded to search and seize my guns, ammo and some medication I had in my room (without my consent).

AFTER they realized I wasn't a criminal, after being handcuffed and taken to the police station, they relaxed a bit. They *only* charged me with disturbing the peace or disturbing a place of business or some crap. I have court on Tuesday. Bailed out for $500. I got all my firearms back."

I am overseas now but I would love to see a peaceful OC protest in front of the OB police station to show our support and invite the press.

UPDATE: The thread at GPDO has been locked and sealed upon advise of legal counsel. This one may be locked, monitored, and or edited soon. I hope for a quick and just settlement and that we can still be updated on the case as soon as possible.

Locked so that the info there can't somehow be used to impact the matter at hand. I'm sure there will be an update after it is all cleared up.

Yes my legal council who is BRILLIANT and incredible, is taking care of this and he suggested closing the thread on GeorgaPacking.org. I had another reason to close and delete it myself. Once things are cleared up, I think we can re-open it.

Thank you so much for the support, thanks to my amazing lawyer, I have things under control. I'll come on here and participate as well! As gun owners in AMERICA, let alone the SE, we all should be working together to ensure that ALL of our rights and freedoms are protected.

I do like the idea of an OC "protest" in front of OBPD though. haha! We'll hold off on that for a while. I might get a call in the morning from my attorney for that comment!
